London Foodie Bucket List For 2021

We’re all in agreement that 2020 has been a write-off and a year we don’t want to remember. Even though we’ll never be able to forget it. And while things aren’t perfect and have been tough I’m trying to look forward to the future and the fun things that we’ll hopefully be able to do in the not-so-distant future. I’ve done a few London bucket lists before, but never a dedicated foodie bucket list. And it’s time that changed because one of the most important things to me when I go to London is choosing the right place to eat.

I’m not going to be rushing into London as soon as the tiers drop, but when I feel safe enough to I can’t wait to have more days in the city. I’ve missed going in to eat good food, explore and tick off more attractions and things to do. But I’m going to stop rambling and start making you feel hungry; here’s my London foodie bucket list for 2021.

Foodie bucket list newbies

Japes

I think Japes may be the absolute top of my foodie bucket list because the pizza there looks insane. They’re the first place to bring proper Chicago style deep-dish pizza to London and the cheese pulls look insane. A friend of mine went there and made me so jealous of her photos so I need to go here. And you can even get a golden parmesan crust which I would 100% do.

Butchies

This is probably the foodie place that’s been on my bucket list for the longest, I’ve just not gotten round to it. I think mainly because of the area as I’m not usually just around Shoreditch, I’d need to go specifically. Butchies do some great looking buttermilk chicken in all the different styles (burgers/ fillets/ popcorn).

Sketch

Afternoon tea at Sketch was on my foodie wish list for a while but then I realised that the actual menu for the tea wasn’t right up my street. But my dream to go there is still high, I’m thinking perhaps for breakfast as their menu looks great. But for me, this is more of a dining experience than specific food I want to eat.

Mother Mash

Luke and I watch a lot of Sorted Food and they visited Mother Mash in a video and ever since we’ve had it on our foodie bucket list. The concept is simple you choose your mash, your sausage or pie, and your gravy. But the choices on offer including some cheesy mash’s look amazing. I think I’d need to go back a few times to have both the sausage and the pie options.

Bubblewrapwaffle

Yes, this might seem a bit cliche and a bit ‘touristy’ but I want to get a bubble waffle from bubblewrapwaffle in Chinatown. Every time I’ve been close by the queue has been so long I didn’t want to waste time. But after a year of queuing for shops etc, I’m happy to wait next time I’m in London. You’ve probably seen the photos in Chinatown of these snacks, and I want to create my own.

London foodie bucket list revisits

Not all of the places on my London foodie bucket list are new to me. There are a couple of places I want to revisit because the food was so good and I want to introduce someone else to it.

Dishoom breakfast

I had Dishoom breakfast on my bucket list for ages and I finally got there just before lockdown happened in March. And the breakfast naan wrap was everything I hoped it would be and more. I’d love to take a few of my friends who like Indian food here to see how they like breakfast there. Plus any excuse to have another breakfast wrap is a plus in my book. I would also love to head to Dishoom for dinner as well to try some proper Indian food.

Big Easy

It’s been quite a few years since I last went to Big Easy, but I’ve never been with Luke and I think he needs to experience it. The food there is proper BBQ vibes and I remember the lobster mac and cheese being insane. But there’s rib tips, southern fried chicken, and massive burgers. Just all the feel-good comfort food.

Do you have anywhere on your London foodie bucket list?

This post should come with a serious warning… “Forget the diet…” 😉 Some fabulous suggestions and I would totally be running towards the bubble waffle, but like you I wouldn’t be rushing into the city when restrictions are lifted. I haven’t been into Manchester for a year now and am feeling iffy about it all when things lift. However, life must go on at some point and I’ve bookmarked BubbleWrapLondon for my next visit down there! Sim x
