March 2021 has definitely been the biggest change in the weather. The clocks went forward at the end of the month and the lighter mornings and evenings have been lovely. I’ve been able to go for little walks after work and it’s still light. And having a bit of sunshine has definitely been a boost to my mood. It doesn’t make lockdown feel quite as bad when the sun is shining.
Generally, I’ve been feeling pretty good, and I’m really excited for some things to re-open over the next few weeks/ months. Although I am still feeling a bit apprehensive and anxious about the future. But I’m taking it one step at a time.
March is normally quite a busy one with Luke’s birthday and my mum’s birthday just one day apart. And then Mother’s Day as well which fell the day after my mum’s birthday. Madness! I had a nice long weekend booked off work over Luke’s birthday which in itself was so nice. I got to sleep in, do stuff around the house I’d been putting off, and just relaxing away from my work laptop.
For Luke’s birthday, I mainly planned it around food as he just wanted to relax and play PlayStation. One day I bought a feast from Smoke Stak which included brisket, pulled pork, and pork belly. It was so good, but I bought way too much food. And then I bought Burger and Beyond for another meal which was really good. Alongside a chocolate rainbow cake, donuts, and loads of chocolate we certainly feasted.
We had a nice video call with my mum on her birthday to watch her open her presents. I’m hoping this is now the end of full lockdown birthdays now we can meet outside with up to 6 people which will be nice.
As my mum broke her ankle last month I’ve been doing a lot of doorstop drops to my parents with shopping and things they need. And it’s been nice to see them a bit. Although when my mum’s cast comes off I can’t wait to go round and have dinner with them in the garden.
I’ve been trying to get outside and walk more myself which I’ve been pretty good at. I managed to catch up with a friend near the end of the month and walk around with a Costa which was really nice.
It feels like we’ve been working on our downstairs loo for flipping ages, but it’s finally done (pretty much). We’re going to paper the top part of the room but knew we would wait until our decorator comes back later in the year to do that. But other than the paper the room is complete and I’m so happy that it’s done and looking lovely. I am fully in love with the green tiles and the gold detailing. Plus it’s so nice to have another toilet that isn’t our ensuite. Especially when we are allowed to have people over again.
The next project is our main bathroom which has had some work done to it in March 2021. The room itself was empty but we’ve pulled all the tiles off the walls so it’s completely bare. Luke has the flooring to fix then it will be time to plumb in the bath ready for tiling. I can not wait for this room to be complete as I’ve been craving a bath for so long!

March was pretty good – the month was fairly successful work wise with more freelance writing clients and I also enjoyed spending time with my family.
That’s so good to hear! x
Sunshine definitely makes things much better, I wish my parents lived close enough so I could do door step visits. I love the reno on your downstairs loo.
It sounds like you had a very busy March, I do love the tiles in your downstairs loo. My husband loves Formula 1 and we watch every event
Sounds like a busy March, we had a busy one too with work and school and getting the garden sorted for summer , although weāve had snow the last 2 days!
It sounds like you had a great month and I agree the lighter evenings, signs of spring and warmer days have definitely made me feel much more positive too! We have also got loads of birthdays in March (6 in total!!) so its always a crazy month. Loving the sound of the food you ordered though, it all sounds right up my husbands street, especially smoke stak (YUM!). Fingers crossed for being able to meet up with friends and it being here to stay hey. xx
Oh wow that’s a crazy month, I thought 2 birthdays and a mothers day was enough to feel mad x
March was a pretty busy month for me aswell! 27th is my birthday and 26th is my mums birthday so it has been full on! I like the tiles you chosen for the loo, looks really nice xx
I hope you managed to have a lovely birthday x
Sunshine helps so much doesn’t it. I love the tiles in your downstairs toilet. I don’t know where the time is going at the moment. How is it April?
We were really happy that F1 started up again, it’s so good to have something to look forward to!
Although the 2-3 weeks between races is tough, I’m counting down days x
Sunshine is definitely my kind of medicine! Even though weāve had the worst snow too. April has definitely been a whirlwind !
The sunshine over the last few days has lifted my spirits too. I was able to go for an outdoor swim at my local David Lloyd club this week as well. It was my first swim in four months, and it was bliss!
I haven’t been for a swim in ages, sounds like a dream x
March has some amazing weather (I only wish I could say the same for April) – those cookies also look amazing. It’s making me wish I had a snack for the mid afternoon slump.
Yeah it’s been such a mixed month with sun and snow! x
