Secret Santa Gift Guide – Something For Everyone | 2018

Secret Santa Gift Guide – Something For Everyone | 2018

I am a huge fan of Secret Santa’s as I love trying to find that perfect gift for someone. I’ve done Secret Santas with my friendship group for the past few years and we’re going to be doing one at work as well which makes me very excited. Here are some of my top picks of Secret Santa presents for 2018.

For the music lover

For anyone who loves music and wouldn’t be without their Spotify subscription these Jam Audio On-Ear Wireless Headphones* (Currently £39.99) would be a great gift. These headphones are noise cancelling so if you want to submerge yourself in music and block out the outside world they’re just what you need, for me these would be perfect for travelling as the noise on planes can be pretty tough. They have a massive 17-hours play time so you won’t need to charge these up after every use which is great, and they also have a 30-feet Bluetooth range so you don’t need to have your phone in your hand the whole time.

One of the things I love about these is that they’re sweat resistant so they’re great for gym goers that want to stay motivated when working out. And not just what they’re rain resistant so if you’re out and about and it starts to pour down you won’t be without your music.

For the beauty lover who always had hand lotion on demand

Last year I had a Morris and Co advent calendar and the items inside it were so nice especially the hand and body lotions as they were so luxurious without being too tacky or sticky. I loved it so much that Luke bought me the refreshed calendar again for this Christmas and it’s right up my street. If you’re buying a Secret Santa gift for anyone who loves beauty and skincare then this Morris & Co Essential Selection* (£12.99) would be something truly special.

Within the set you get a hand cream, a body cream and a body scrub which will be lovely to use in the Winter months as it’s colder and your skin needs that extra bit of hydration.

For the girlie girl who loves her tea

We all have that friend or colleague who can’t start (or end) the day without a cup of tea so mugs are always a great Secret Santa gift, but this Colour Changing Unicorn Mug* (£9.99) is a next level mug. As soon as you put a hot drink inside the mane changes to bright multi-coloured strands and it’s really beautiful. As it’s ceramic it feels really good and has a lovely weight to it, but make sure you don’t pop it in the microwave or dishwasher or you might damage the mug.

It’s a really good 300ml size so you’ll get a really good sized cup of tea in there.

Christmas Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

For the person with a sweet tooth

If you want something to go with a mug (like the one above) and your recipient loves hot chocolate, how about a Christmas Hot Chocolate Spoon with Gingerbread Man* (£2.50). The spoon can be made with milk or dark chocolate and all you have to do is add it to a mug of hot milk and stir it until it melts where you’ll end up with a hot chocolate made from really good quality Belgium Chocolate.

The spoon is decorated with edible Gingerbread Men which will melt away with the chocolate so it’s really festive and a great addition to a mini hot chocolate set. I had a milk chocolate one and it tasted so good, much better than when I make it with the tabs in my coffee machine or with powder as it’s rich without being sickly.

For the gin lover

Gin is definitely the ‘in’ drink of the moment and I have to admit it’s about the only spirit me and Luke drink so our collection is pretty extensive. I’ve seen the gin baubles year after year and thought what a good present they’d be so if you’re buying for a gin lover then grab the Lakes Distillery Gin Filled Bauble* (£19.99) for them.

The bauble has 20cl of drink inside so it’s perfect for a few G&T’s over the festive period and the gin inside is so nice coming from the Lake District with its use of locally sourced Cumbrian Juniper berries which grows wild. If you do decide to put this on the tree – because why not?! – then you don’t need to worry about it falling off and damaging as the baubles are made from very sturdy plastic which won’t smash.

For the group planner

I am all about the written word with planners and journals and this Personalised Soft Cover Journal* (£14.99) from Ryman is beautiful as you can personalise the silver foil words on the front. The soft covered journal feels so good and while it’s soft it isn’t flexible so it’s a good thickness. You can put any text on the journal up to 20 characters so it’s totally personalizable for whatever you want to put on it.

The journal has an elastic closure on the front which I love because the number of notebooks I damage when they don’t have these as things drop in between the pages in my handbag. If you know someone who loves the written word too this would be a great present for them.

Christmas 1980s Music Book

For someone whose nostalgic about the 80’s

I’ve bought a newspaper book before for my Nan but if you’re buying for anyone who loves 80’s music then the 1980’s history of music* (£29.99) book would be a great Secret Santa gift. The book is full of photographs and newspaper headlines from all the key musical moments of the 80’s including Duran Duran, Kylie Minogue, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and the start of MTV Television. I’ve got this for my mum as I know she’s going to feel super nostalgic the moment she opens it as she will remember all of the music included.

One extra special bit is that you can personalise the book with their name and message which is always a great extra. The book itself feels like really good quality as it’s hardback so it’s one of those long-lasting books which you can flick through at your leisure.

Christmas Where On Earth Game

For the travel and game lover

I’m a big fan of buying games at Christmas as we love to play new games after dinner on Christmas Day so this Where on Earth Game* (£8.99) would make a great Secret Santa present. It’s a travel trivia game where you can earn points by answering questions and to test your geographical knowledge you’ll be locating your answers on a travel map which folds out from the Globe shaped box.

There are 80 cards within the box which include 160 questions so there’s plenty of gameplay. If you know anyone who’s an avid travel fan then this would be a great little Secret Santa gift as it’s such a good price.

Christmas Books

For the book worm

I’m pretty sure the only reoccurring items on my Christmas wish lists regardless of age are books. I am still very much into physical books and haven’t moved onto the Kindle yet so year after year I’m always on the hunt for new reads, especially as I’m trying to weave more reading time into my days.  I tend to always go for similar themed books and I have three which would make great treats for Christmas.

‘A New Map of Love’ by Abi Oliver is about George Baxter who has lived a comfortable life until his wife of twenty-years passes away. He throws himself into his work as an antiques dealer an when he meets local widow Sylvia he imagines the future again, but things never go as planned. ‘Appetite’ by Anita Cassidy is all about human desires following the story of Naomi who is a lonely wife embarking on an affair alongside a number of other characters including David who is Naomi’s sons best friend who has overcome bullying and Matthew who is David’s science teacher.

The final book is ‘In The Fast Lane’ by Lotte Moore is all about those of us trying (and sometimes failing) to keep juggling all the balls of life. It is full of complex family relationships, life changes, marriage breakdowns, catastrophe and other emotional parts of family life. If you’re looking for a good book for someone then any of these would be a great pick.

Christmas Phone And Laptop Case

For the one who loves stylish practical items

In a world where phone’s and electronic devices are so important a MacBook and iPhone case* (From $43.99) would make a great treat for anyone who loves to keep things matching. I love having a case of my MacBook especially when I do take it out and about with me and the 3-in-1 bundle includes a protective MacBook case, a HD Laser Printed iPhone Case and a Silicone Keypad cover.

The Macbook case just snaps on and off and can prevent scratches, dust and damage to your device but it still allows for air-flow through the device. The actual case feels really sturdy without being bulky or heavy which I appreciate, especially when you’re travelling in it. With the iPhone case it’s just 1mm slim so it won’t stick out in your pocket or prove tricky using a cable or headphones. We all know how easy it is to damage your phone so make sure you keep it well protected with a good case.

You can get 30% off any purchase at Slick Case with the code sc_rhianw which runs through to January

Christmas Trilogy Necklace

For the jewellery lover

If you’re looking for a super special Secret Santa present then look no further than the Sterling Silver Trilogy Pendant* (£35) from Hersey & Son. The necklace features three beautiful sterling silver hoops which interlock together and it sits on a silver chain which comes with an adjustable 16″-18″ chain. The actual pendant is a good size for everyday wear as it isn’t overpowering or too much for day-to-day wear but it’s not too plain.

I know that when I’m wearing jewellery to work I want something which won’t get in my way or catch and this does just that, but it’s still stunning and feels really solid and durable. If you want to make the set super special then there are matching earrings available.

Christmas Cream

For the beauty lover who loves trying new products

Up until a few months ago I’d never heard of French pharmacy brand Embryolisse but ever since owning a bottle of their bestselling Lait-Crème Concentre* (£20) I’ve seen and read about it everywhere. The brand have launched an exclusive new design of their lotion paying homage to my favourite city New York. The iconic city skyline covers the bottle and it’s a really stunning item before you even think about what’s inside.

The lotion is totally multi-functional and is a 5-in-1 item covering moisturiser, cleanser, masque, make-up remover and after shave product so not only is it a must to have at home, it’s a must if you’re travelling and want to take fewer products. The cream itself is quite light weight but can easily be built up to create more of a night mask consistency and it sinks so beautifully into the skin that I did love how hydrated I felt afterwards. The cream is loved by many celebs so would make a great Secret Santa gift.
