A lot of us are working from home for the first time and it’s a big adjustment. There are benefits though because you don’t need to worry about your commute anymore. That gives you more free time in the mornings before you need to start work. Unfortunately, for a lot of people, that just means more time spent in bed. When you don’t have a specific time to start work, it’s easy to start the day slowly. But if you want to make the best use of your time and adjust to working from home, you need to get your morning routine right. Here are a few tips you should follow.

Get Up At The Same Time

When you work from home, there isn’t a strict time to get up like there is when you need to catch the bus. But it’s still important that you get up at roughly the same time every day. If your morning routine doesn’t follow a particular schedule, your body clock will be all over the place. Getting up at the same time also means you have gained some extra time that you would normally spend commuting, and you can put that time to good use.

Keep Some Of Your Normal Habits

If you want to make the transition to home working easier, you should keep some of your normal habits. For example, if you normally pick up a coffee on the way to work, learn how to brew filter coffee at home so you don’t miss out on that little luxury in the mornings. If you would normally read on your commute, take half an hour to read in the morning before you start working. Keeping your normal habits will help you maintain your productivity and boost your mood.

Fit In Some Exercise

If you want to really make the most of your morning routine and keep up your energy levels, it’s a good idea to fit in some exercise. If you can’t set aside much time for this, find ways to make the most of the time you already have. You have a bit of extra time because you don’t have to commute to work anymore, so why not use that time to do a quick workout? Even 20 minutes every morning will make a massive difference.

Eat A Healthy Breakfast

Your body needs fuel to keep you going throughout the day, so it’s important that you eat a healthy breakfast before starting work. You don’t need to cook anything complicated, but you should make sure you have some fruit and vegetables on your plate. When people are in a rush to get to work, they often skip breakfast or grab something quick and unhealthy. But now that you’re at home and you have a bit more time, make the effort to eat something healthy. A high protein breakfast will keep you full for longer and give you an energy boost throughout the day.

Staying motivated when working from home can be tough. It’s important that you create a good working environment but you should also think about your morning routine. When you start the day on the right note, you will be much more focused throughout the day.
