September 2021 was a pretty special month for a whole load of reasons including some new additions to our family and going back to see live music again after so long. It’s been really nice to continue to feel a bit more normal as time goes on. But this doesn’t mean the pandemic is going anywhere. As I write this both my brother and my mum have tested positive for the virus and have been ill. So I’m keeping my distance and hoping they feel better soon.
And the world just seems to be descending into even more chaos with the petrol panic buying. Thankfully I don’t use my car masses, but even I’m getting a bit worried that the panic buying has been going on for a week now and it doesn’t look like it’s set to stop.
Here are some of the things I got up to in September 2021.
Luke’s best friend was due to get married last August, but after having to postpone the day finally came round on 11th September. It was such a beautiful day and it was a great excuse to get properly dressed up for a change. I spent most of the day with Luke’s other friends while he went off on best man duties. And I will admit I did get a bit drunk which is quite unlike me. But I think I was just happy to be out in a happy setting.
My brother’s wedding is in a few weeks and I’m very excited about that. It’s just nice that weddings can happen again.
Perhaps the biggest thing to happen in September 2021 was the addition of two beautiful fur babies to our lives. Me and Luke have wanted kittens for ages and we said once we moved we’d do it. We made the decision to wait until all the major work in our house was done and then we’d get them. And the time came! We first saw them back in July when they were just one week old. And once they hit eight weeks we brought them into our lives.
We have two brothers; Thor (ginger kitty) and Loki (black kitty) and they’re incredible. I didn’t quite realise how much love I’d feel for them as soon as we got them, but I’m head over heels. They have been very well behaved so far and really good eating and using their litter tray so I think we’ve gotten very lucky. And they’re very affectionate. I’m super glad we got two brothers as they play with each other all the time. And on the odd days we’re out we know they have each other.
Luke was away on a stag weekend the first weekend we had them so I got to chill with them solidly for three days and it was bliss. They’ve had their first vaccines and they were very brave, and next week they go back in for their second vaccines and microchipping.
It isn’t summer without a festival for me so 2020 was an odd one, and I really thought I’d go another year without one. But Slamdunk happened at the start of September and it was just such a feel-good day.
Firstly the weather was incredible, if anything a bit too hot! I got to spend the day with two close friends, and we saw some great music. This was my first live music back after the pandemic and it was nice to be at an outdoor festival as I could position myself wherever I felt comfortable.
Near the end of the month, I spent four days away following my favourite band: Bring Me The Horizon. The trip started with a day exploring Sheffield. I’ve been to the city loads before but never actually seen past a hotel, bar, or gig venue so that was nice. And then I did three back-to-back gig nights in Sheffield, Birmingham and London.
Yes it was a bit excessive and yes I was knackered by the Sunday evening, but the whole thing made me so happy and filled my heart up. So I’m very glad I went along for the three nights. Each show was slightly different as well in terms of where we sat/ stood and what happened which I was grateful for.
I’m officially back in the office one day a week now which has been really nice. I’ve only been in three times so far, but it’s refreshing to have organic chatter with people as opposed to fixed Google Hangout calls or instant messaging. And it has been nice to get a change of scenery (even if I do miss the kitties!)
For the moment it looks like one day will be it, but who knows what may change.
I mentioned last month that our bathroom was 95% done so I’ve been enjoying lots of baths to make up for lost time. I posted a renovation reveal if you want to take a look and see how it looked before and after. We did have a bit of a hiccup with our front garden renovation recently due to a neighbour driving into our garden and knocking down a wall and some gates. Thankfully everyone was okay but we’ve been dealing with getting that all sorted so there’s not been much else going on in the house.
For me, it’s been one of the busiest blogging months I’ve had so far. And with Christmas just around the corner, I’ve started to prep for that. The wonderful team at Baker Days reached out to me last month which felt a bit full circle as they were one of the first brands I worked with when I started this blog a number of years ago. I love their letterbox cakes as they’re a great thing to be able to send to someone to just show them you’re thinking of them. Especially if you’re not able to get to see them in person etc. I picked the chocolate chip sponge (of course) and it was really light and soft.

Our friends daughter got married in September after having to postpone due to lockdown last May. Your kittens are so cute I loved mine when I had them but my husband is not a cat fan, and when my last one died at 23 he said no more.
Wow 23 that’s impressive, but such a shame that your husband isn’t a fan. Thankfully getting our kittens was as much my fiances want as mine x
I didn’t know Slamdunk was back this year! I’d definitely have tried to get tickets if I did. It’s really great that things slowly seem to be going back to normal now. We threw my daughter an 18th birthday party last month and it was fab to have the family all back together 🙂

Your kittens are so cute – I have to admit the first thing I thought was what are their names and I love them! I bet being back in the office feels like a bit of normality for you.
They are actually growing into their character names as well. Thor is quite bold now compared to Loki being a bit more brooding like he’s constantly planning x
Sounds like a great September! The kittens are so cute and I love the names. My cousin gets married in January and I can’t wait for an excuse to get all dressed up, too!
Weddings are the best excuse for that aren’t they x
Isn’t it nice to get back to “normal” – your September looks like it was lots of fun!
Perfect weekend ever! I miss live music so much, havn’t been on a concert for over two years!
There is litereally a lot of things to be thankful for. I’m so happy for you, by reading this blog for me you are very blessed. Those kittens are so cute! I love cats, too!
It sounds like you had an eventful September. The kittens are so adorable. I thought about getting a cat myself. I’m glad you enjoyed the festival too!
It was an eventful September, but the kittens were the most important x
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post as its reminded me of how things were pre-pandemic. It has been a while since I’ve been to a live concert or a wedding and its nice that everything is starting again.
First of all the kittie pictured above are adorable! And it looks like a wonderful festival and you must have had a total blast! Thank you for sharing 😉
Such adorable kittens! Congrats! We have two cats and they bring so much happiness to our family.
They’ve already bought us so much happiness and we’ve only had them 4 weeks x
A neighbor drove into your garden? Yeeiekes. Glad that no one was hurt. Congrats on the bathroom remodel.
Wow, what a packed week! We went to our first wedding in years the other week too – it was so fun to see everyone! Your kittens are so adorable too.
It feels a bit strange going to a big wedding after so long doesn’t it?! x
I bet it was so fun. I wouldv’e loved to go. I hope you had a great time. Thanks for sharing!
Oh love this post. September felt like the first taste of normality in such a long time. I love Baker Day cakes – Ive not had one in ages!
It really did feel like more normality x
