Ways You Can Become A Better Cook

*This is a collaborative post on ways you can become a better cook

Do you dread cooking in the evening? Find yourself always turn towards takeaway when hosting dinner for others? Do you find yourself spending excessive money on ready meals? If the above applies to you, and you’re frustrated by these habits – it’s time for you to fall in love with cooking. Becoming a better cook is important if you want to eat well and impress your family and friends. It may seem overwhelming at first, but with a little dedication and organisation, you can become better at cooking within weeks! Here’s how.

Experience to become a better cook

No matter the resources you have at hand, doing something regularly is the only way to master a craft and it’s no different for cooking. Trial and error are a natural part of the process, so each time you cook a dish you may change certain techniques or experiment with new flavours and seasonings. Only 5.49% of Britons spend over an hour cooking, so if you’re rushing to get dinner over and done with, you are unlikely to be developing your skills!

Equipment

If you have a set of new and stylish kitchenware, it is more likely to tempt you to make a homemade meal. Not only will the aesthetic of modern, up-to-date cooking equipment make meal preparation a lot more appealing, but it also makes it easier and will significantly up the quality of your food. If you’re dedicated to improving your cooking, upgrade your pan set to a stainless-steel cookware set with professional-grade qualities like a non-stick layer.

Lessons to become a better cook

If you’re really stuck on cooking and are finding it difficult to merely motivate yourself in your own home, you may consider enrolling in a set of cooking lessons, which will give you the push you need. If you know a friend who is in the same position as you, why not plan to go together so you can continue to motivate each other afterwards. Enrolling someone in a cooking class also makes for an excellent Christmas present which is guaranteed to create a memorable experience.

Tutorials

If you don’t have the extra cash to splurge on professional cooking lessons, YouTube tutorials and television cooking shows are a great way to learn new techniques and recipes. There is an abundance of free content which be sure to make you and your family look forward to mealtime every day.

Ingredients to become a better cook

Spice up your meals (literally!) by diversifying your ingredients list! There is a world of herbs and spices out there to try and they can really transform your dishes. If you find yourself using recipes that require a lot of fresh herbs, why not grow your own outside or in your fridge with a cultivator for added authenticity.

We recognise that improving your cooking takes a lot of time, and time is a privilege. However, by just setting aside a small amount of time a day, you can be sure to improve your skills in no time!
