Give Your Home An Autumal Spring Clean

Traditionally you will know that Spring is the time of year that everyone takes to the duster and give their homes a good clean. However Autumn is also a brilliant time of year to have a good clean and clear out. Some even think that it is a better time of the year for a thorough clean. The children are back at school, the nights are getting darker and we spend more and more time indoors as the weather gets poorer. Staying on top of the housework is the best way to tackle it so doing a clean in the Autumn as well as the Spring is the ultimate way to stay clean. 

Have a look below at some of the tasks you should think about tackling this Autumn: 

Sweeping 

With Autumn comes the wet and blustery weather which in turn leads to more sweeping in order to avoid mucky carpets and dirty floors. It’s the perfect time of year to make sure you have a decent doormat that is going to help banish eaves and dirt from being bought into the house. It’s unnecessary and avoidable. Also, don’t forget to pull out the ‘shoes off’ sign up, it’s something that tends to fall behind in the summer months. 

Thorough Dusting 

If you’re not a fan of spiders then this section is definitely for you, a great way of keeping the spiders at bay is to give your house good, thorough dust. They are most certainly hard work this time of year and you will probably come across a visitor at least once a week. They really like older homes so if you’re not living in a new build keep your eyes peeled. Getting rid of the webs is one of the first things you need to consider as they will tend to return to their web for food and safety. Make sure you are always removing them safely and considerately, and try not to harm them. 

Sofas And Soft Furnishings

As you’re going to be spending a fair bit of time relaxing on your sofa’s rather than sitting outside it’s a good idea to give them a little freshen up. If you can remove the covers and cushion covers stick them in the wash or use a steamer to give them a good clean. You’ll be thankful when you’re snuggling down on the sofa. Although you may be better off with professional sofa cleaners to do this for you.

You will probably much prefer to have a fresh smell rather than the musty smell that they can gather over the summer period. You could always treat yourself to some new cushions and throws ready for the Winter too. 

Declutter From Summer 

We all know that with summer comes the clutter and although it’s definitely worth it, leaving the summer clutter in your home can make your house feel messy and dirty throughout the Winter months if you don’t tackle it in the Autumn. Preparations for Christmas are only around the corner, so decluttering should be a priority this time of the year. You could even consider hiring a housekeeper to help keep on top of things, but how much does a housekeeper cost?
