Six Ways To Earn Cashback

Purse with cash

I’ve spoken about ways to earn cashback quite a number of times before for both the smaller, but also the bigger ticket items. For example I got £250 cashback for opening a stocks & shares ISA paying in £75 or more a month. Yes it did take a year to be approved, but it was something I needed to do anyway. And I got a really good payout from it.

Cashback itself is like free money as you don’t pay anything extra in order to qualify for you. If you think that claiming cashback is more hassle than it’s worth then you’re wrong.

Here are some of the best ways to earn cashback.

Use an app or website like Quidco

The simplest way to earn cashback is to use either an app or website like Quidco. All you have to do is search for the retailer and if you can earn cashback from them you access the website using their link. This means that Quidco is tracking your journey and your eventual purchase. And they can then say that they referred you to get a referral fee. You then get a payout for using the sites service.

There are loads of different sites and apps that offer cashback such as Top Cashback, but I use Quidco myself the most. If you’ve not signed up before use my link to Quidco and get an extra £5 when you make your first purchase (disclaimer I also get a reward for you signing up).

If you forget download a browser extension

Sometimes the hardest part of earning cashback is remembering to do it before you make the purchase. If (like me) you forget to click through then sites like Quidco and Topcashback offer browser plugins. These will give you a pop-up message when you’re on a site that is eligible for cashback. You just need to click on the button and you’ll get able to get cashback.

The Quidco one also works when you Google a product. It will show you which ones are eligible so you buy it from the place that gives you the best deal.

Earn cashback by snapping your receipts

There are quite a few apps that will give you cashback simply by snapping your receipt after you have been grocery shopping. Sites such as Shoppix, CheckoutSmart, SnapMyEats, ClickSnap, run by Quidco and so many more. You may only get a few pennies for scanning each receipt but if you do it on multiple apps each time you shop it could add up.

Apps like Shopmium offer cashback on particular products each week at all major supermarkets. If you buy one of those products you may get it free or discounted.

Earn cashback by hooking up your cards to Airtime rewards

Another way to earn cashback is to sign up to Airtime Rewards. With this app you hook up your cards and when you spend money in particular retailers (over 80!), both online or in store you earn credit. And his credit can be used against your mobile phone bill. So you’d be saving money on something you pay out for anyway. Not all of the cards I regularly used are supported so I’ve not made a lot from the app so far but I know some people who regularly get quite good cash off their phone bills.

Get a credit card that gives you cashback

If you already use a credit card you may want to think about swapping for one that gives you cashback. You can compare credit cards at MoneySavingExpert to see the best options at the moment. Be aware of any feed that may be charged, the cashback rates that may be offered and if there are minimum spends. It may still work out beneficial for you, but for others it may not be.

Earn cashback through retailer credit cards

I will start this by saying don’t go out opening loads of credit cards without really thinking about it. This might be for everyone, but if you shop regularly in particular places this may be worth looking into. For example M&S offers one-off vouchers to new cardholders and when you spend you collect p0ints which are turned into store points.

Luke has a Partnership Credit Card for his work and every so often we get a John Lewis/ Waitrose voucher through the post which is always nice. It’s a little added bonus for spending that would be done anyway.

I love cashbacks and purchase rewards! Helps saves some money. Whenever I purchase stuff online, I look for sellers that offer cashback or points that I can redeem on my next purchase. I will have to check if our credit card company has a cashback offer too.
