I think I may have tempted fate with the title of this blog post. We had a wonderful week of sunshine in March 2022 but now it’s cold and miserable again. How did that happen?!
We’re now over a quarter of the way through the year which is a bit mad. Although I’m happy the clocks have changed, it’s lighter outside and hopefully the sun will come back out for Easter Weekend. March 2022 was the month I finally caught COVID after avoiding it for two years. Thankfully I didn’t miss out on too much while I had it, and Luke was working away for my roughest days so he managed to avoid catching it. For me it was like a bad case of the flu with an almighty cough which is still lingering to this day.
Thankfully most of my fun stuff happened in the two weeks at the start of the month before I go it, or in the final week after I had been negative for a while. Here’s what I got up to in March 2022.
At the very start of the month me and my friend went to see Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK Season 2 show and it was so good. It was my first time seeing any form of live drag show and what a show. The music, the dancing, the outfits, it was perfect.
And then just before I got ill I saw Dear Evan Hansen at the theatre which was incredible. I had seen the movie so I knew what to expect but I still shed a few tears throughout. The lead guy who plays Evan was just amazing, I would 1000% recommend seeing it to anyone. Although if you can avoid it see it before the movie.
I only got the cinema once in March and that was to watch The Batman which was brilliant. I had been sceptical of R Patz as Batman but he did a great job and the movie had more of the dark, gritty vibe I associate with Batman.
And finally for entertainment the Formula 1 season has started again and what a crazy first two races it’s been. I don’t think anyone could have predicted how good some cars are, how bad some have been, and the positions in the rankings so far. But I am so excited for the rest of the season.
I had a busy start to the month with two back-t0-back shows which I will admit did destroy me a bit. They were both rescheduled shows so it wasn’t planned this way, but March 2022 made me ask how I coped in my 20’s doing multiple shows every week.
Both of them happened to be in Brixton with Funeral For A Friend on Saturday night and Taking Back Sunday with Alkaline Trio on Sunday night. It was a weekend of nostalgia and reminiscing (and feeling a little old!) For me Taking Back Sunday was the highlight of the weekend, but all the bands hit the spot.
Then a show I had booked as part of Luke’s birthday last year was seeing Hans Zimmer live. The show was at the O2 Arena and it was full of the feels. I’ve seen Hans once before, but this show was totally different which I loved. There’s something about watching live classical style music and it be tipped upside down.
Me and Luke are both pretty good at planning a great birthday day out and this year was no exception. We started off quite relaxed with breakfast at Breakfast Club and a wander around Borough Market before heading off for an Archery lesson. We did this in London Bridge and it was a really great session. I’d tried out archery before but never been too good. But this time I actually learnt how to do it properly and surprised myself. As expected Luke was a natural at it and he’s already pricing up making a set up in our garden.
After the lesson we headed towards Southwark to a place called Electric Gamebox. The premise is you’re in an interactive digital room playing games that requires you to run around the room like a crazy thing. The walls are touch sensitive and you wear a fetching hat with sensors on to track where you are. We had such a laugh playing the games in here and totally wore ourselves out.
Next up it was a cheeky chocolate martini at the Chocolate Cocktail Club which was super tasty. And then we went on a quick stop to Forbidden Planet and Foyles for some book shopping. Yes that was Luke’s idea and not mine! Then we finished the night in Kintan which is a Japanese BBQ spot where you have grills on your table to cook your meat and dishes on. We had high hopes for this and it did not disappoint!
I love a good pamper and try and sneak in time whenever I can, but March 2022 gave me the ultimate pampering week or so.
After I had recovered from COVID I had an appointment at a salon for a microdermabrasion facial which was great. I am trying to have facials a bit more often in the lead up to my wedding next year to keep my skin looking as good as possible. While there I got LVL lashes at the same time as I wanted to try them out before the wedding. So pre- holiday seemed like a good time. At the point of writing this I’ve had them for just over two weeks and they still look beautifully curled and tinted.
Then just before my holiday I had the double whammy of spa pedicure and getting my nails done. I’ve been trying to paint my own nails to save money, but going away seemed like a good excuse to get it done properly.
And literally just before my holiday I had the hen party of one of my oldest school friends. It was a spa weekend so I got a full body scrub. The hen party itself was absolutely perfect with great company, good food and drink and a nice relax and pamper. I was definitely taking notes for my own.
Our week away to Portugal kind of crossed over to the start of April but it was just what we both needed. The weather wasn’t quite as nice as last time we went out of season but I still managed to lounge by the pool, and get sunburnt. Luke played golf on a bunch of days, while I read 4 and a bit books which was great. We ate some great food, had a few cheeky cocktails and had the ultimate couples spa treatment.
The week away to do very little was a great reset and relax and has got me pumped for the coming months and everything else we have planned.

I agree, not sure where the sunshine has gone! Looks like you have had a lovely march with lots to do and see, the birthday trip with Luke sounds really fun as well.
I can’t believe how cold and windy it is now, I want the sun back x
You’ve done a bunch of stuff, good for you! All I did was to work š but planning a road trip in May, can’t be more excited about it.
Ohh that sounds exciting x
Sorry to hear about your bout with Covid, but anyway, you did have a good month. The birthday day out dinner for your husband looks really good! Hoping for more fun and better days ahead.
I feel like we had an early taste of spring here as well, but then winter came back this past week and it’s such a tease! But I am looking forward to the warmer days ahead and getting outside again. Sounds like you made the most of the warmer days you had! So glad you and Luke had a nice birthday š
It’s been so windy and cold lately hasn’t it?! Bring back the sunshine x
I am so jealous of the shows you went to see – those are some fantastic bands! Sounds like a busy but fun month for you.
you started your spring with a blast! and i am totally jealous of your weekend relaxation.
I could use a good pampering. I haven’t had one in far too long.
The weather has been a bit up and down, we are lookinng at going to the cinema when the new Top Gear film comes out. My husband is a huge Formula 1 fan and it does seem a very different race season this year which makes it much more exciting
A top gear film, I’ve missed that one, but I know Luke will want to se that x

Really enjoyed reading what you got up to in March. You certainly packed a lot in! Sorry to hear you got Covid, though. I still haven’t had it myself either, but I guess I probably will sooner or later. Anyway, I hope you get over the cough and any other lingering symptoms soon.
You’ve really packed it in around having covid – glad you weren’t too bad with it. The Portugal trip looks amazing.
