I’ve been running this blog for almost a decade now. I started off with a different name on Blogger. Then quite quickly I bought this domain name, and moved to WordPress. When I first started I never thought I could get paid blogging work. Maybe the odd product to review but I never thought I’d be able to have an income from it.
Like any freelance work, the money is never guaranteed and fluctuates from month to month. For example, this year in my best month, I made over £2,300 in additional income. But then in July, this dropped to £670. I’m incredibly thankful for both figures, but it goes to show how much it can change. And paid blogging work isn’t a given, it won’t always be available.
Last month I posted about my 2021/22 additional income, but I wanted to talk about some of the ways I get my paid blogging work.
A lot of both my paid blogging work but also review/ activity collaborations come from brands and agencies reaching out to me. So it’s really important that if someone looks at your website and thinks you would be a good fit to work with that they can easily contact you.
Your contact me/ work with me page should be easy to find (ideally in your navigation). This way people can quickly move to the page and get in touch. Make sure your email address is really easy to find on the page ideally as a link so people can reach you even quicker.
As the organised person I am, I keep spreadsheets of all collaborations I do. They include how much I get paid, what the collab is, and the contact email. I find that I do get quite a bit of repeat work from certain agencies if they deal with multiple clients. Or certain brands when they bring out new products etc.
I always make a note of the last time I speak to contacts. So to get more paid blogging work I will reach out after three months have passed. This can include giving any update on any metric changes (domain authority/ social media followers) and to reintroduce my brand. Then it gives us the opportunity to work together if they have anything they think might be a good fit.
Brands and agencies are busy people and I find by reaching out I put myself back on someone’s radar. Then tends to result in some additional work from reaching back out.
This one may take some time once you meet the right people and get involved in some communities, but look out for groups on Facebook (although they probably exist on other mediums too). I am part of a few blogging groups and they’ve proved invaluable over the years.
Some groups are more informational where you can ask questions, get feedback and make contacts. And others have the purpose of sharing contacts (when they’ve agreed to be shared) and helping each other get paid blogging work. You can also look out for local groups which may help with collaborations with local businesses.
There are too many sites out there to name them all, and I’m probably missing out on some really great ones. The ones I do get some paid blogging work from are Intellifluence, and Get Blogged.
Intellifluence will list out all types of collaborations that you can apply for with set prices. The ads will show what they’re looking for, what platform etc. Once accepted you’ll be sent the relevant info and you can submit your live link when the work has been completed.
Get Blogged works in a similar way but you can bid on work and say how much you’d charge for a particular piece of work.
These sites won’t make you loads of money but they’re a good place to start. And a good place to go back to when you may have a quieter spell. There are loads of sites that are great for non-paid gifted collaborations such as Press Loft, Response Source and so many more.

This is going to be a big help to a lot of bloggers our there. If you’re just starting out, you don’t know all the ins and outs of where to go in order to find paid work.
I am going to look into the two networks you mentioned. I only make money through my site ads right now and would love to increase that.
Ads is one thing I don’t do as I don’t like how they look, but I know it could be an additional income x
A very helpful post for bloggers new to blogging Rhian. I remember what it was like starting out and it was confusing. I’m on both of those sites and they’ve given me repeat work
I use get blogged but not heard of intellifluence before. Going to pop over and take a look at that one.
Some months you’ll find nothing, but when things do pop up I usually find them quick and easy posts x
I am actually researching blogging to supplement my income, it seems an awesome idea…Thank you so much for the insights.
I have been blogging for years so have a cleint base. Some of these sites can be good to sign up to although some are better than others and not all will give bloggers a reasonable fee for projects. You need to pick and choose as you learn.
I couldn’t agree more, the sites are good as supplements but not as your whole blogging income x
Great tips and info here! Joining groups and getting active within the community is so beneficial. You learn a lot from other bloggers as well and always get the inside scoop.
You really do learn loads, as chances as every issue you’re having someone else has been through before x
That’s a very helpful post. These tips are really very useful. Joining groups on Facebook is a good idea. Will try too.
Such a big helpful to beginner, expierenced, and up-and-coming bloggers. Thanks for sharing!
Ooh thanks for recommending those two sites, I’ve tried them so will definitely be taking a look.
Those are some great tips. I’ve signed up to some good sites and some that never panned out, but it’s worth exploring them to see!
Oh yeah for every good one there’s about 5 rubbish ones x
Wow I love those great tips! This is a big help to many bloggers out there, thanks for the share.
These are some fantastic tips! I do many of these and although I have found it a little quieter recently, I think it would be even quieter if I didn’t do these!
With so many people putting hours of energy into blogging and not really making the money they thought, your advice is brilliant. You’ve shared super valuable tips like keeping spreadsheets of your collaborations. Great stuff!
These are all really excellent tips and yes to repeat collaborations and building longer term paid clients – also utalising all social media platforms and facebook groups!! Excellent tips, thanks for sharing
