When it comes to luxury, there’s superficial luxury, and then there’s the real luxury. Real luxury stands out on close inspection and evokes a sense of class and prestige – this is what you want when renovating your bedroom with a high-end vibe.

The good news is you don’t need to go for broke with a high-end renovation – you can get a sense of luxury with only a few changes.

This article reveals five high-end renovation ideas for your bedroom; most require only a measuring tape and a few hundred quid!

Brass or bronze bed frame

Brass and bronze bed frames are elegant, timeless, and effortlessly stylish. Best of all, they are scarce in traditional homes, allowing you to make your bedroom unique.

We’re here to tell you that brass and bronze bed frames are the most luxurious you can get – you just can’t beat their understated elegance!

For example, the Harmony Elizabeth is a beautifully ornate brass bed with an antique style that bedazzles with Victorian-era metalwork.

Or perhaps you prefer a simple, understated bronze bed like the Flintshire Oakenholt (pictured above) with its vintage feel? It’s perfect for industrial bedrooms.

Once you’ve chosen a bed style, it might be worth thinking about the supporting pieces that will sit around it so the room reads as a cohesive whole. Selecting coordinated furniture can help you sort scale, finish, and storage in one go. Many renovators tend to find it helpful to consult a guide to choosing the right bedroom set so they can visualise how beds, chests, and bedside tables work together. This approach can make planning circulation and lighting easier and avoid awkward last‑minute mismatches.

Renovation ideas for your bedroom: Feature wall cladding

Painted and wallpapered feature walls look fabulous, but you can go one step further with cladding (wall panels).

Feature wall cladding brings three-dimensionality to your feature wall with raised detailing, giving your bedroom the look of a stately home.

You can get cladding in a shaker style, shiplap, geometric, and honeycomb styles, or make it yourself with timber strips, glue, screws, and filler.

Fancy something unique? A joiner can recreate any styles you find online with excellent results. Our favourite style is double-raised panels, which are timeless, clean, and luxurious. Finish them in any colour to suit your taste.

Dado rails (wainscots)

Dado rails or wainscots are decorative, waist-high wall mouldings that wrap around the walls of a room. Originally designed to protect walls from furniture, today, they are a luxury feature in modern, traditional, and eclectic homes.

Our favourite use of dado rails is to break up patterns in bedrooms – you can wallpaper the lower wall section and leave the top section white.

You can get wooden dado rails made from pine or high-density polymer dado rails, which are cheaper but less eco-friendly.

We love wooden dado rails because they are available with intricate carvings and edges and are fully recyclable after future renovation.

Renovation ideas for your bedroom: Flush ceiling light

If you have a ceiling light hanging on a cable, replacing it with a flush or semi-flush light fitting will transform your bedroom.

Flush and semi-flush light fittings sit close to the ceiling and use horizontal rather than vertical space. This unlocks fantastic opportunities for spotlights, Sputnik chandeliers, and LED ceiling lights in intricate, artsy shapes.

Luxury homes use flush ceiling lights in all spaces except those with high ceilings, which call for a chandelier or hanging pendulum lights.

Made to measure blinds and curtains

The biggest mistake people make when renovating their bedroom is buying cheap curtains and blinds from the shop. The truth is that made-to-measure products fit better and have a more comprehensive range of fabric options than retail stores.

A few options include 247 Curtains and 247 Blinds, Curtains 2 Go, Blinds 2 Go, Blinds Direct, and Dunelm Mill (yes, the same Dunelm with stores).

The trick with curtains is to buy the plushest fabric you can, and in the case of roller blinds, the most expensive-looking finish (blackout blinds are made from plastic with a textile layer – they are not made from upholstery).

Venetian blinds are another great option because they let you play with light in interesting ways. You can also get perfect-fit blinds, which clip onto window frames.
