*This is a collaborative post on how to prepare ahead of Black Friday

Now you may be thinking to yourself its only September why are you talking about Black Friday yet. But like anything it pays to be prepared and start thinking about it early.

The rest of the year is going to fly past anyway, and the more you think about it now the more you’ll save. American influences seem to have flooded the UK and most retailers take part in Black Friday sales. But it’s no longer just a day of savings, it can be weeks long surrounding.

Starting making your black Friday lists now

When it comes to Black Friday sales it’s important to not impulse buy. Something might seem like a great deal, but if you hadn’t planned on buying it anyway it’s not a saving. Now more than ever us Brits don’t have as much spare cash to just flash on a sale item so plan as far ahead as you can.

Think about the things you plan to buy over the next six months. And things you want to buy for Christmas. Start researching the best prices and deals now so when the sales start you can see if it’s actually any cheaper. If I know I want to buy specific

Thinking about shopping sustainably for Black Friday

Fast fashion sites are notorious for doing massive Black Friday deals. But we all know that we need to start shopping more sustainably. Too much is dumped now and I know I am trying to make an effort to buy better quality things that last longer. And items that have been made in a sustainable and ethical fashion, and second-hand items. When you buy cheap poorly made items they don’t last long, then they get dumped, and you have to repurchase.

Look for Black Friday clothing deals on sites such as NA-KD that offer a lot of clothes made from recycled materials. Buying items this way means new material hasn’t been made specifically for your clothes. They also have a marketplace where you can send back second hand clothes when you no longer want them. When you do this you get a shopping voucher in return. I love this idea as your clothes will be reused and recycled but you get something from it too.

Follow and get notifications from your favourite brands

If there are particular brands or stores that you love it’s worth signing up to their mailing lists, or following them on social media. This way you’ll know as soon as the deals start coming out, and you may even get early access thanks to an email newsletter.

It might be worth setting up a new email address specifically for these newsletters. You won’t clog up your own inbox and might be less tempted to spend throughout the year.

Sign up for cashback (if you’re not already!)

I’d like to hope most people are taking advantage of cashback sites now. If not check out my post about how I’ve been using Quidco to make money and use my refer a friend code here to get a £10 bonus.

Sometimes you won’t qualify for cashback around sales time, for example if there’s a discount code. But you might as well try to make as much extra money as possible.

Our country is pretty new to black friday and we haven’t quite got it right yet. Generally I stay away from it unless there is a big ticket item I really want then I will check for it.

I always have to plan what I am going to buy ahead of time otherwise I will get side tracked by other deals. It’s important to have a game plan for Black Friday for sure.

Hard to believe we are almost there. We should start thinking about any Black Friday campaigns we might launch.
