AD- Items in this food and drink gift guide have been provided in exchange for inclusion but all thoughts and opinions are my own
Can you believe in two months time it will be Christmas eve?! I’m going away in a few weeks and have set myself the task to finish as much of my Christmas shopping before then. And I’m doing pretty well so far.
Food and drink gift guides are always a good shout and a go to when I’m buying for a lot of my family. Especially when they’re treats that you know someone wouldn’t buy themselves. This food and drink gift guide should give you plenty of inspiration for gifts, or yourself.
If you know any budding chefs who love to cook at home this barbecue meat rubs spice tin* (£35) is a great shout. I’m pretty bad when it comes to spices and I never know what to try. But this set has been expertly created to help people experiment with flavours from all around the world.
In the box you get seven removable tins, and nine different word spice blends and BBQ rubs. You also get a metal spoon for accurate measures and a recipe guide to inspire you of what to cook.
There are some foodie items that I’d have no idea how to make at home, and sushi is one of those. But this sushi at home kit* (£36.70) from Kelly Loves includes everything you need to accompany your choice of fish or vegetables to create sushi.
You can all of the toppings to accompany your filling including fried onions, ginger and wasabi. There’s the sushi rice and nori sheets as your base. An it even comes with a bamboo rolling mat and a bento box to present your home made sushi.
Something like this would be great for people who loves to try new recipes, and would give anything a go. Wish me luck when I give it a go.
Last year I picked up some bits for my dad from Tracklements and he loved them (especially the English mustard). So I thought I’d keep up the tradition and go for the festive four gift pack* (£14.15) this time.
This set includes four condiments including a Christmas spice chutney, a sticky fig relish, spiced plum chutney and cranberry, port and orange sauce. These condiments are right up my dads street as you can have them with cheese, or with tapas dishes/ the boxing day buffet.
Perfect for the foodie love with more of a savoury than sweet tooth.
There are so many different bottles of wine and sometimes it can be hard to pick which one to go for. But if you’re going to grab someone a bottle of prosecco for Christmas, you can’t go wrong with a bottle that has been featured in Forbes, and featured in the ‘Best prosseco under £20’ list by Decanter.
And that prosecco is Ca’Di Rajo pink prosecco* (£15.95) which is a really fresh and light prosecco with a berry taste to it. I’m not a massive wine drinker but this prosecco was the right level of sweetness for me. It’s made from the Pinot Noir grape from a village 30 miles north of Venice. These grapes are what gives it the pink colour.
Sometimes it can be hard to find novelty food and drink items that also taste good. But one that stood out to me was UB40’s Red Red Wine* (£28.50) created with Eminent Wines.
The limited edition wine was created by bringing a Bordeaux Chateau together with two of the founding members of UB40, Britain’s biggest reggae band. As a massive fan of reggae music this was a definite present for my dad. The band sold over 80 million recipes and their wine was produced from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
If you’re buying for someone who prefers gin to a wine then I’d recommend the Hernö old Tom gin* (£35.44). We’ve tried the original Hernö gin and love it, and the Old Tom gin is very similar but after distillation has a touch of honey and sugar added to it to give it the classic sweetness you get in a traditional Old Tom Gin.
In the olden days London gin houses had tom cat-shaped plaques outside them. And you’d put a coin in the cat’s mouth and the bartender would dispense a shot of gin from the cat’s paw. And that’s how the gin got its name. Plus you can’t get cuter than a cat’s face on the bottle.
My nan is a massive fan of panettone and every year we look for a new one for her to try. If you’re in a similar position and buying for someone who loves panettone, then check out the Milano panettone* (£22.99) from Sous Chef.
Sous Chef have the hard task of tasting hundreds of panettone’s every year and select the best to work with. And the Milano panettone is new for 2022 and produced by a family of bakers in North Italy. The rich dough is made from very closely-guarded ‘mother’ yeast and only a few people have access to the starter.
Check out the rest of the Sous Chef Christmas gifts here.
I love finding new ales for my dad and brother to try and Shepherd Neame offer a pick and mix box* (£33) where you can choose 12 beers from a massive list.
I have a whole selection of different iconic ales including Spitfire Amber Ale, Whitstable Bay, India Pale Ale, Bishops Finger and some Christmas Ale. These type of boxes are great as you can choose ones you know someone hasn’t tried, or you can pick ones you know they’ll love.
The hardest decision I’ve got to make now is whether to keep them for Christmas or let my dad give some of them a try.
If you want to go for something totally different then give coconut flower beer a try. Never heard of it before?! Nor had I until I discover Neitiv. The beer contains a unique ingredient, coconut flower drops and this gives it a taste which isn’t bitter. For me it’s the bitterness that puts me off beer, and these were so much lighter than other beers.
The divine set- calm the mind* (£27.90) features three beers, some coasters and a candle and is a great introduction to the brand. You can try three different coconut flower beers including a sweet, a light and a smooth lager. So you can give them all a try and discover your favourite.
These lagers are 100% natural, sustainably made, low calorie and vegan.
What do you get the coffee lover with a sweet tooth?! Christmas spice chocolate covered espresso beans* (£7) of course.
These espresso beans have been roasted so they’re crunchy, then they’ve been covered in milk chocolate and dusted with cinnamon. And even the smell of them is ultimate Christmas in a bag.
Whether you’re looking for a sweet treat to put into someone’s stocking, or you just know someone with a sweet tooth these would make a great addition.
If there’s one thing that is a fail safe gift that’s chocolate. So you can’t go wrong with a Cadbury giant selection box* (£15) which features all of your favourites bars.
It won’t quite fit into a Christmas stocking, but I’m sure the person you’re buying for won’t matter. This selection box is only available online from Cadbury Gifts Direct and features no less than 15 popular chocolate bars and a Christmas selection pack.
Out of the lot my favourites are Dairy Milk Caramel, Twirl and Crunchie. But I know there will be a fit on between me and Luke for some of these bars!
If there’s one thing everyone needs it’s some good saucepans. And Blackmoor Home have a Blue Pro range of frying pans and cookpots which are robust and hardwearing, but aren’t ridiculously expensive.
I have the Blue Pro 20cm non-stick saucepan* (£26.99) in the image above, but you can get frying pans between 20 and 28cm and sauce pans from 16cm. So you can kit out your whole kitchen with everything you’ll need. The Blue Pro collection are made from aluminium and work on all hob types including induction, and can be used in the oven up to 220°C. They have a 5-layer construction allow them to heat up quicker and retain heat for longer, making cooking even easier.
And they’re non stick which is a must for us when it comes to cook wear. Plus this range has a scratch resistant surface, perfect for how much use they get.
