AD- Items in this guide ‘gifts for around the home have been provided in exchange for inclusion but all thoughts and opinions are my own
It’s time for gift guide number five of 2022 and we’re almost on the final month countdown till Christmas. Madness!
I absolutely love getting homey gifts. Even when I was living at home and just had my bedroom, anything to make the space nicer was a winner. In this guide I have over 12 different gifts for the home from gardening bits to presents for your furry friends. There’s something for everyone.
When I moved into our house I had zero gardening items. I barely owned a watering can for my houseplants, and this pocket pruner multi tool* (£23) would have come in so handy.
Not only is it a really handy set of pruners so you can keep your house or garden plants looking healthy, this is a 12-in-1 gadget comes with various tools to help you around the house.
All you have to do is unfold the pruners like you would a multi-tool. And they fold up so they fit in your pocket.
I am immensely proud that I have some houseplants that I’ve kept alive for a few years now. And for those of us millenials living away from home but not yet at the stage of having kids, houseplants feel like our babies.
So if you know anyone who loves their houseplants a vintage watering can* (£26.09) would make a great gift.
It’s practical as it holds quite a bit of water and is really comfortable to hold. But it’s always a beautiful home piece and would look lovely sitting on a shelf or hanging on a hook.
The final thing on the gardening theme is this complete language of flowers book* (£11.99).
I will be honest I don’t know much about flowers, but my dad knows so much more than me. And he’ll talk to me using plant and flower names but I never know what he’s talking about.
The complete language of flowers is an encyclopedia with meanings, facts, powers and folklore for over 1,0001 flower species. And it’s beautiful with imagery and illustrations throughout.
A great gift for a budding gardener, or someone who loves learning.
Pets deserve to be spoilt at Christmas as much as the rest of us. Last Christmas was our first festive season with Thor & Loki and they were spoilt. And this Christmas there’s the addition of my brothers dog to get spoilt.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a new toy, and this doggy fake news toy* (£13.99) is so cute. It’s a plush toy with a squeaker inside so great for dogs to fetch, run around with or chew. And it’s just so damn cute.
The bounce egg* (£8.99) is actually a really clever toy as it’s a harder shell which you put treats inside. Then the dog has to really work to get their treats meaning they don’t eat them all at once. We have some similar toys for the boys and they work so well.
Then onto the practical doggie present, a pet poo bag carrier* (£9.99). This carrier easily attaches onto a dog lead and is a really cute but practical way of storing poo bags for when you’re out on a walk. The bag comes with a roll of bags and takes standard poo bag rolls to refill afterwards.
We get snuggly soft bedding and it’s only fair our furry friends get the same. And this faux suede and fur dog bed* (£35) is one of the softest things I’ve ever felt.
It is sold as a dog bed, but our cats have had dog beds before and it just means there’s a bit more space in them. Even better on the occasions when the boys want to snuggle up together. The oval bed is so soft and the faux fur will keep your pets warm and comfortable during the colder months. It’s got tough stitching and can withstand scratching and pawing. And it’s fully machine washable, particularly useful for messy pets.
We’re blessed with a good-sized garage but it’s always tough to keep it organised. If you know anyone in a similar boat, or someone like me who loves keeping things organised a gift from BIGDUG could be just right.
Their Christmas Mega Deal* (On offer for £186.70 now!) features two adjustable steel shelving units, including a corner unit, a matching workbench, 15 lidded storage boxes and 24 plastic part bins. So everything you need to organise and tidy space.
The corner unit is great as it utilises all the space you have. Whether you know someone with a garage, or even a shed, this would be a great gift to help them stay organised.
If you’re looking for a personalised gift then you should check out VistaPrint.
This personalised mug* (from £5) was one of the numerous different designs you can pick from. And you can upload all your own photos and personalise it to exactly how you want.
A mug is a great gift, especially if you’re looking for a stocking filler, or you’re just looking for something small. The print of the design is really good quality and my design came out exactly how it looked on screen.
You can get your photos printed on so many things from keyrings and tote bags to T-shirts.
I love a good foodie related home gift, and they’re a go to when I’m looking for presents. As soon as I saw these silver cheese and mice picks* (£39) I knew they would make a great gift for my dad alongside some of his favourite cheese.
The whole thing is silver coloured but made from aluminium/ stainless steel so is safe for food use. And each of the picks has an adorable mouse on the top and a pointed end that you can use for cheese or most things on a charcuterie board.
Each of the picks has a home in the adorable cheese wedge.
I love getting practical gifts for around the home such as kitchenware. And what’s more exciting than some bakeware for those of who who prefer baking to cooking?!
KitchenAid has a collection of non-stick bakeware that is scratch and corrosion-resistant; perfect for any baker. The 0.8mm aluminized steel is really durable and will maintain it’s shape without bending. And aluminized steel is known to heat quickly and evenly for great results.
I have the non-stick mini rectangular cake pan* (£30) which is great for mini loaf cakes. I can’t wait to do my Christmas lemon drizzle in them. And you can’t have a bakeware collection without a decent springform tin* (£24).
Artwork can change a relatively plain space into a really special haven. Especially for people renting who can’t paint walls, but are allowed to add artwork and prints to the wall.
If you’re looking for a really special gift for someone then this limited edition print of the Golden Capital* (£100) would be great. This print is a beautiful view over the river Thames, framed by a Golden sunrise in the capital.
The print itself is on beautiful paper ready to be framed and hung up. And one thing I love is that it’s signed and limited to just 25 prints, so it’s truly unique.
If I had it my way I would have hundreds of cushions. All in different colours and seasonal designs, but I think Luke would kill me. But cushions are both practical and comfortable for sitting or laying with, but also provide a great visual element to your sofa or bed.
This velvet bees cushion* (£18) is made from rich green velvet and features bees in gold foil print all over it. I absolutely love velvet and this is no exception, it’s super soft and I could sit stroking the material all day. It’s also a really well filled cushion with a hollowfibre fill
When you’re looking for homeware, sometimes you don’t want to go too practical, you just want something quirky and cool.
And that’s exactly what this stacked teacups clock* (£45) is. As soon as I saw it online it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland which is a huge win in my books, and I knew it would be perfect for my friend who is a fellow Alice lover and has just moved into a new place.
It has 3 sets of colourful patterned cups and saucers balanced, and it comes with a swinging teapot pendulum that moves when it’s working. The clock is really well made, and feels robust even with the delicate features like the hands and the steam coming off the top teacup.
I love a good art print, I think it really makes a space feel like a home. They can be quite personal, so if you know someone really well and get them something they love it’s even more special.
I picked the celestial moon, sun and stars print* (£20) as this is exactly my kind of decor. The print came really quickly and was packaged really well so all I have to do is find a frame.
The prints are made from 100% recycled paper, and Tabby Firefly are dedicated to sustainability, they offer that if it wears out you can send it back to them to be made into something new.
Every year we love to get a new game to play together at Christmas. But sometimes it can be hard to find a game that’s quick and easy to learn and everyone can get involved with.
This year I’ve decided to go for Bake it Happen* (£19.99). The aim is to bake as many recipes as you can by collecting ingredient cards. There are action cards that mean you can sabotage other player and their baking and the race is on to become the greatest baker.
One thing I love about this game is that it doesn’t have loads of parts or a complicated set of rules. You can learn how to play in a few minutes making it perfect for Christmas Day.
