Somehow we’re in the final month of the year, and I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed by it all. November 2022 has disappeared in the blink of an eye, and so has the whole year; it doesn’t feel like I’ve taken it all in.
But we are now in my favourite month of the year. It’s the festive season all around, so I’ll be spending the next month with Michael Buble’s Christmas album on repeat, watching all the tacky Netflix Christmas movies and trying not to eat the festive treats.
The biggest thing in November 2022 was mine and Luke’s holiday. We booked our Norweigan Cruise about 18-20 months ago, and finally, it was time to board. We flew into Rome on a Saturday morning and spent 12 glorious days travelling around the Med, taking in Italy, Greece, Turkey and one stop in France. Then we finished in Athens and had a few days there before we flew back.
The break was just what we both needed to reset, and we had a fantastic time both on and off the boat. So much so that we’ve booked our next cruise already, although it’s not until September 2024. But something to look forward to as part of our honeymoon.
The few days at the start of the month before we travelled just felt like preparation days. And it’s only now that I feel recovered from the unpacking and masses of washing.
While we were away, the boys had their holiday at a cattery they’d been to a few times before. It was strange being away from them for so long, and I did miss them like crazy. But I know they were being well looked after and cared for.
When we picked them up, they were a little sheepish with us (a few hours for Loki and about a day for Thor). But it’s nice to be back with them. And now we’ve got to see whether our Christmas decorations survive this year. Last December, they were only about five months old, so they are not fully mischievous like they are now, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Even though we were away for half the month, November 2022 was full on Christmas now.
The first thing I sorted out was my Christmas wardrobe and some pieces I could wear throughout the festive season. I picked some partywear pieces from Yours but chose items that could be worn throughout the year, so I make sure to get wear out of them.
The first item I picked up was this black glitter dress* (£36.99) which is beautiful. Not only does it look good, but it’s stretchy and comfortable. I took this one with us on the cruise to wear on one of our special dining evenings.
Then I picked up this teal glitter swing top* (£24.99). I think fancy tops are always great for Christmas as you can dress them down with blue jeans and trainers, or dress it up with trousers and some heels or boots. This is going to be my go-to December meal out top. And to go with it, I’ll be wearing this purple longline blazer* (£28.99).
It’s not just the clothes I am sorted with. Other than one or two small things, all of our presents are bought, and I’ve made a start on the wrapping as well. And at the point of writing this on the final day of November, all of our decorations are up, other than our main tree. Ever since we moved into our house, we’ve gotten a real tree to go in our living room, and we’re going to choose one on 2nd December.
Even though we were away for half the month, I still packed in three trips to the cinema.
As soon as we got back, we headed to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and I wasn’t expecting the opening to be as emotional as it was. Overall it was a good movie, but not one of the best Marvel movies. Then I headed back to see Matilda, the musical. I’d seen the show, so knew what to expect, and it lived up to those expectations. Although I find certain things feel a bit cringy when you’re watching it in movie form vs in the actual theatre.
Then the final movie I saw was Glass Onion which I didn’t know what to expect, but I enjoyed it. Knives out is such a great movie, so it had a lot to live up to.
Then to round out the month, I headed to the theatre to see the production of Elf showing in London.

I may of gotten my Christmas shopping done early as to not stress about fighting the holiday crowd and started listening to Christmas music more frequently, however I still can’t say I’m ‘truly’ in the holiday spirit yet. I guess I’m like u; it’s still hasn’t hit me that another year is just about over. I hope that will change here in the next couple weeks or so. Until then, happy holidays to u!
I like finishing my Christmas shopping early as you can then enjoy December and not spend it shopping. Although I do still have my wrapping to do x
I’ve almost finished my Christmas shopping. I’m impressed with myself considering I started a few days ago. LOL
That’s pretty good going x
We are done with the Christmas shopping finally. It’s been a stressful time trying to keep to a budget. Pur Novemver was quite quiet as have been poorly but getting there.
Yeah keeping to a budget is even more important this year as everything is so much more expensive x
We have done our Christmas shopping and will be decorating our Christmas tree soon.
Sounds like you both have had a wonderful and well deserved break in the Meds, and are now ready for Christmas! November has been super busy for me and hoping for things to slowly quieten down as we head into December with Christmas preps
Sounds like a big month. Resetting before the holiday seems like a good idea. Wishing you the best as you go into preps and the season.
Thanks, you too x
There is no sunshine here , we’ve had snow issues out for Thursday and is minus 4 , definitely feeling like Christmas!
Oh sounds like such a wonderful trip! I would love to take a trip after the holiday rush…a Mediterranean cruise sounds fabulous too.
It really was thanks x
There are so many films I want to see at the cinema but we never seem to have the time!
Lovely to read what you have been getting up to in the run-up to Christmas. Your tree looks fabulous and I hope it survives the attention of your cats!
It’s doing okay, but it’s not quite as neat as we’ve had to put things back on that they’ve pulled off x
We are yet to start our Christmas shopping. I just can’t wait to start with the Christmas tree decoration.
