*This is a collaborative post on personal injury claims, all thoughts and words are my own
Back in 2014 I started my marketing career working in personal injury. And it really helped shape my mind about the industry. A lot of people here the words ‘personal injury claims’ and don’t think favourably. Yes there are some companies who are the ones cold calling you about an accident you’d been in. But there are plenty out there just looking to help people get compensation for injuries caused in non-fault accidents.
Fast forward to end of 2019 and I had to use their services myself.
It was boxing day and me and Luke were driving home from seeing family on the motorway. It was dark and a bit wet and we had to stop a little abruptly in a queue and the person behind us was not paying attention and went into the back of us.
The situation was pretty scary as the car behind us had some speed and it thrush our car forward. Our car was messed up, but due to it’s value they decided to fix it. But then COVID happened and we were in a hire car for about six months. That must have been an expensive fix and replacement car.
But the hardest part was how I felt both directly after the accident, but also longer term.
For the first few hours adrenaline was pumping through and I was in shock more than anything. But as time went on I got the classic ‘whiplash’ symptoms that took over my shoulders and neck. I couldn’t work out for quite a few weeks and for a long time it was painful to turn my head so much.
Personal injury claims can help you get treatment for your injuries as well as compensation. Through my claim I got a package of physio treatments to help ease some of the pain. And over a few months of sessions alongside exercises I did at home it did get better.
For me it’s the physiological injuries which have been the hardest part. Even now over three years later I really struggle being a passenger in a car. If we even get close to another car I freak out a bit, and I’m always worried we’ll be in another accident.
If you’re looking to make a personal injury claim then make sure you chose a reputable agency like OH Parsons. The agency or company you use will walk you through the whole process and keep you up to date with what’s going on.
When I first decided to make a claim I had a call with the agency and answered a lot of questions. This included what happened, my injuries, the other vehicles details etc. This call lasted around half an hour and then all of the information was typed up and shared with me to check over. Once this happened my case was allocated a lawyer who I spoke to a few times. During this time I had a medical examination and my treatment.
Then a few months later I was offered a settlement which the lawyer advised on whether to accept or push back etc.

I have never had to file a personal injury claim, but it is good to know about, especially when it comes to things like the workplace.
I never had to make personal injury claims but this is good to know. You never know when you need it. Thank you.
I am so sorry you had a car accident! I never claimed personal injury, I just feel it would be complicated! Very insightful.
This is good information to have even though I’ve never had to make a personal injury claim.
That would have shaken me up too. I think if you have had an injury that wasn’t your fault, then it is so worth making a claim.
It’s just so strange how even now I’m having some issues with being in a car etc, you don’t realise how much it can affect you mentally x
It is good that you were able to successfully navigate the personal injury claim process. Good that you are sharing your experience with others.
It is so important to get treatment for your injuries! Thank you for sharing how your claim worked and your decisions behind it.
Picking a reputable company does matter. A bad representation for a personal injury claim can be devestating.
Yeah you want people who know the system, but most importantly know how to support you x
That’s something new never heard about personal injury claim. Good to know about this.
Thankfully I’ve never had to use it but all this information is really handy to know . Thank you
