Fathers Day is creeping up on us again, and I’m having to be even more prepared than usual this year. If baby girl arrives on time it’s only about ten days after Fathers Day and I know my brain won’t be in gear at that time. Finding fathers day gifts is always the hardest present I have to think of each year. And from next year I’m going to need to find something for Luke as well!
Here are some gift ideas for the man who is impossible to buy for.
That is unless the guy you’re buying for doesn’t like beer. Thankfully my dad is a big fan so it’s always a sure fire hit.
These bucket of beer hamper* (£29.99) from Boutique Gifts comes with four different beers paired with some savoury snacks. And everything is housed inside a beer bucket. So it’s an all-in-one gift. The snacks can vary slightly but I got some chilli crisps, hot chilli nuts, sour cream and onion pretzel thins, snacking cheese with carmelised onion and chorizo thins. All things I know my dad will absolutely love.
You can select ‘personalise this gift’ to add a message. But if beer isn’t the top choice they do a lot of other personalised hamper options.
My dad notoriously gets a lot of clothes and shoes for presents because he doesn’t go out and buy them for himself. Unlike us ladies who tend to buy things when we need them (or more likely just want).
I picked the Bowstring Primaloft Insulated Winter Boots* (£140) because even though it’s currently summertime having a warm comfy pair of shoes for winter is so important. And I know it’s something my dad doesn’t have a lot of. These particular shoes come in the lighter brown, but you can also get them in black. And I really appreciate the fact that they do half sizes.
The shoes themselves are an iteration of a classic 6-inch work boot. They’re made with a premium waterproof leather upper, warm insulation, a supportive midsole and great traction- everything you need for the colder months. And they feel really sturdy, so I have a feeling that they’re going to last a long time.
These come from Helly Hansen who do a huge range of shoes, clothes, accessories and so much more.
I picked this gift option for Luke as he’s been dying for a new pair of ear buds to wear at work for ages.
The Epic Sport ANC 3 true wireless earbuds* (£99.99) which being fab for workouts, are a great all round set of earbuds. They have a high performance sound with hybrid dual drivers for Hi-Res Audio, aka the sound quality is great. And they have 68+ hours of battery life as both the buds themselves and the case carry charge.
One of the things Luke has been loving is that they have a wireless charge option meaning he can just slot them down to charge each night and never be caught out with uncharged earbuds.
If you’re looking for a Fathers Day option for someone whose into tech, or just loves their music this could be the one for you.
Ever since the pandemic puzzles have been a staple in our household. It’s a great opportunity to have some screen-free time and I know my dad loves them too.
We’ve used a lot of Ravensburger puzzles before, and this time I picked time for tea* (£10.99) which is a 500 piece puzzle, perfect for a slightly quicker puzzling session. It’s no secret those of us in Britain love tea, with millions of cups of tea drunk every day. The puzzle itself features loads of different brightly coloured teapots, cups, mugs and jugs and looks like it will be a lot of fun to put together.
Regardless of the interests of the person you’re buying for Ravensburger are likely to have a puzzle for them. Recent ones we’ve completed are a bookshop complete with cats, and a myths and legends one, both of which were super fun to put together.
I love getting the fun presents, but I’m also a fan of a practical gift as well. My dad is so hard to buy for that sometimes the easiest thing to do is to go for something I know he needs.
This Catherine Lansfield six towel bale in navy blue* (£26.92 currently) is 100% cotton and comes in a whole range of colours. The set comes with two face cloths, two hand towels, a bath towel and a bath sheet so you’ve got the full collection. And they’re such good quality for the price.
They’re really soft and absorbent (pretty important when it comes to a towel!) Plus they’re really light, but have a feeling of durability about them.
There’s nothing better in the kitchen than some new pans and now we’ve been introduced to Green Pan I fear we’re going to want to swap out all our pans.
Green Pan have been changing the way people cook since they introduced a healthy ceramic non-stick in 2007. And since then they’ve redefined non-stick and their processes. Traditional non-stick coatings are usually made with PFAS (poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances). These are chemicals that make everyday utensils water-, grease- and dirt-resistant. Because PFAS break down very slowly, they were nicknamed ‘forever chemicals’. And this is what makes Green Pan unique as they launched its first pans with a Thermolon™ ceramic non-stick coating. It is made from a sand derivative and is PFAS-free.
We have the premiere frying pan in the 20cm size* (£85) as we wanted something small to do eggs in and it’s such a lovely pan to use. It has a good weight to it and the non-stick coating is better than anything else I’ve used before.
We all want our utensils to stay in good working order, and the only real way to do that with knives is to sharpen them. Tormek have a collection for both home chefs and professionals to do just that.
The sharpener is really sleek in design and is pretty compact so you can leave it out on the kitchen counter. Designed to get even the dullest knifes razor sharp again, because there’s nothing worse than a dull knife. It just makes everything more difficult to cut.
Do you have the household drawer/ cupboard full of tupplewear and boxes?! I know we do, and I’m everyone else does. When cooking for his two sons Hokan founder, Alistair Donald realised that he needed to do something to be more efficient in the kitchen and avoid unnecessary food waste. So he swapped his plastic boxes for a solution that could be used to cook, bake, serve and store food.
The Hokan stoneware bowls and lids are oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. And they’re stackable so will fit much better in your cupboards. Plus the lids will fit on any size of bowl as the volume is detemined by the height.
Unlike their plastic counterparts they’re odour and stain free so you never have to worry about leftover foodie smells.
The bowls themselves heat evenly and retain heat efficiently. If you cook or bake with the lid on you can keep the temperature stable and the moisture in. And the lids can be taken off and used as a side dish to maximise their use.
I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it, we love Tracklements in our house (and my parents!) And their award-winning range of over 50 planet-friendly condiments just keeps growing. The brand have actually been going since 1970 when the brand founder, William Tullberg, found a recipe for wholegrain mustard in and old 17th century diary. He was intrigued and tried his hand at making it. And like they say the rest is history, and the brand does so much more than just wholegrain mustard now.
The special edition collection for Father’s Day includes:
The tomato ketchup and chilli jam are some of my absolute favourites. And I know my dad will enjoy everything in the box.
