Adapting My Summer Wardrobe And Holiday Prepping

Other than a bundle of jumpers, I don’t have a separate summer and winter wardrobe. My summer wardrobe tends to be the same, just without the tights or cardigan that go with an outfit. But the summer months seem to be getting warmer and warmer, so that needs to change.

I love clothing and own more than my fair share, so I’m constantly taking stock of what I do and don’t have. I can be brutal with what I own and will sell anything that I don’t wear enough or no longer love.

Thanks to Cotton Traders, I have been able to fill a few gaps in my summer/ holiday wardrobe.

Plus size swimwear

Swimwear can be harder to find if you’re over a size 16 but still want a pretty design. I picked up the ring detail swimsuit that has both inclusive sizes up to 24 and is really pretty looking. The swimming costume has tummy control and bust support which I really appreciate as it makes me feel as good as I can when in the water or sunbathing.

We’re not going on our summer holiday until September. Until then it will be getting plenty of us in both mine and my parent’s hot tub that we’re keeping a little cooler at the moment. The only thing worth keeping in mind is that it’s handwash only, but for something this pretty it’s worth it.

My summer wardrobe lacks lightweight tops

I am very much a t-shirt girlie, but I am trying to wear more tops/ blouses now (at least when I go out). But my wardrobe is still lacking in this area, especially with lighter summer tops.

In the hot weather it’s all about lightweight material and this embroidered pintuck blouse* is just that. It’s made from pure cotton so the material doesn’t stick to you in the heat, and even with ¾ length sleeves, it doesn’t get too warm.

The embroidery is really delicate, and if white isn’t your colour you can get it in blue with white embroidery.

Cotton traders shorts

Shorts are summer wardrobe essentials

I have plenty of denim cut-offs and shorts, but very few super lightweight ones. You know the kind of ones you can wear when working from home when the inside feels warmer than the outside. But the kind of shorts that you can still wear outside.

My summer wardrobe now has these linen-blend relaxed-fit shorts which are one of the most comfortable items in my wardrobe. They sit just above the knee and have an elasticated waistband because no one wants a tight-fitting pair of shorts in the heat. I can not wait to take these on holiday with me to put on when walking down to the pool or popping to the shop for an ice cream. And they even have pockets so no need to take a bag out with you.

Are there any summer wardrobe essentials you need to add to your collection?

Linen blend is a must for the hot summer months ahead. They are very comfortable but also quite stylish too. I just got my first one piece suit this year so I could wrap a skirt around it for an easy, cool look.
