Four Money Saving Browser Extensions You Need To Use

Last year online retail sales accounted for £24 billion in the UK according to Statista. That’s a lot of cash to be spending, so I hope everyone’s using money saving browser extensions to make the most of their money.

What are browser extensions?

A browser extension is a bit of software that you can download to add extra functionality to your web browser. Once downloaded you can see them beside the URL at the top of your browser.

They can do various things from blocking ads to managing passwords, and you can get money saving browser extensions too. The browser extensions can automatically scan for discounts, cashback offers or coupons when you’re shopping online so you don’t need to do any heavy lifting.

There’s no limit on how many money saving browser extensions you can have, so it’s worth trying a bunch. Once activated play around with the extension to see how it works and enable notifications (if applicable) to find out about price drops or coupons.

When you download an extension make sure you’re logged into your account (if applicable) and disable ad-blockers that may interfere with notifications and pop-ups.

My favourite money saving browser extensions

Quidco

My Quidco browser extension is definitely my most used extension and it’s designed to help you earn more cashback. With over 10 million members it’s a very popular way to save or make money online.

Cashback is free money, but usually, you have to go onto the Quidco website, search for the website and then click the link. When you purchase through a cashback provider you can earn either a percentage or a set figure back after your purchase.

By using the browser extension when you search for an item on Google the extension will show you which sites you can get cashback on and how much. So if you’re buying an item available at multiple places you can choose to buy from the place with the best cashback offer.

If you’re on a particular site the extension will flag if cashback is available, and you can activate cashback with a simple click. The extension works on Safari, Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers and is even optimised for mobile browsing.

Topcashback

This is another cashback browser extension that works in a very similar way to Quidco, although it’s not one I’ve used as much myself

Functionality wise it works very similarly to Quidco where it will let you activate cashback when you’re on a website, and it shows cashback offers when searching online. It’s available on the same browsers.

The two cashback websites will have some different retailers, and differing cashback rates so it’s useful to have both activated.

Pure money saving browser extensions- Honey

Honey has over 17 million users worldwide and is an absolute must if you want to save money shopping online.

Usually, I search for coupons or discount codes before purchasing anything, but honey can scan the internet for codes for you. When you get to a store’s checkout it will automatically search for and apply the best coupon code it can find. It can also provide a price history so you can see if it’s been on sale before. This may influence your decision to purchase.

Honey does have a cashback offer but it’s not something I have used myself.

Camelizer for Amazon users

If you use Amazon a lot then the Camlizer browser extension is a good one to download. It helps to compare prices on Amazon so you can see the price history of items. The information can help you work out if the item is likely to ever go on sale through events like Prime Day or Black Friday, or whether a sale price is in fact a good price.

This extension will also allow you to set up price alerts to receive notifications when the price of an item drops below a specific level. You can add The Camelizer extension to your browser here

The best money-saving browser extensions

If you’re looking for an easy way to save (or make) money then activate as many of these browser extensions as you can.

Cashback is a no-brainer as it doesn’t cost anything and you can get free money back on various purchases. Then coupon codes can save you money from the off-set.

Do you use any other money saving browser extensions?
