Springtime Is Approaching – March 2024 Updates And Favourites

The world of Tim Burton in Turin

A quarter of 2024 is already over, how made is that?! Although as I sat down to write this at the end of Easter weekend I’m quite happy we’re now in April. The start of the year has been great, March 2024 included in that, but springtime is fast approaching. The clocks have gone forward, it’s getting a bit lighter, and slowly a little less grey and miserable. And I’m here for it.

Here’s my March 2024 springtime updates and favourites.

Things I got up to in March 2024

I had a lovely weekend in Turin, Italy just before Easter weekend. Me and my friend purely went to go to the World of Tim Burton as we’ve been trying to head there for almost a decade. Other than that our main plan for the weekend was to eat nice Italian food and relax, and we did both of those things. We tried to do the trip on the cheap and I did a post about ways to save money on a weekend in Turin. The whole weekend was great, made even better with some lovely weather. I didn’t even need to wear a jacket.

The exhibition is doing it’s final run after a decade on the road in London from October 2024 so I’m 100% going to be going again.

March is quite a busy month with events as there’s Mother’s Day so we visited my mum and my mum-in-law. And then it’s Luke’s birthday, followed by my mum’s birthday a day later. So a busy one.

Italian Bear cake

For Luke’s birthday I planned a day out in London which included racing at the F1 arcade, all the chocolate at Italian Bear Chocolate, some shopping and dinner at Bodeans BBQ. It was a really fun (and yummy) day out and it was nice to do things for Luke.

In the lead up to Luke’s birthday we went to the theatre to see Stranger Things: The first shadow and it was incredible. It’s set around 20ish years before the show and follows the adults as kids and is the story of Henry Creel as a child. The cast were amazing, and it was so fun to see younger versions of characters we love like Joyce, Hopper, Bob and loads of others. And the special effects were unlike anything I’ve seen before. If you get the chance to go do it!

Across the month I actually had two different tattoo appointments with different artists, and now have three extra tattoos filling up my arms. I absolutely love all of them and seeing my arms take shape makes me so happy.

Empire of the Vampire

Things I read and watched

We went to the cinema four times in March 2024 seeing: Dune 2, Wicked Little Letters, Ghostbusters and Godzilla x Kong. All of the movies were great, Wicked Little Letters was so funny and I just love Olivia Coleman. And Dune 2 was just epic, I loved seeing more of the story.

TV wise, I have finally finished Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV and I loved it. I think it did such a good job keeping to the story in the books and Brie Larson just felt like Elizabeth Zott to me. Me and Luke watched season 2 of Extraordinary on Disney+ and it was so funny. I really hope they do a third season and it feels unfinished to me.

I had a mixed month when it came to reading. Near the start of the month I started and stopped reading quite a few books as I just couldn’t get into anything. I think I had book burnout after reading so much while I was away in January and February. But my top books from the month were:

Lego flowers

Things that made me happy in March 2024

It may have been really early this year but Easter weekend may me happy. Having two shorter working weeks and a nice four days off was well needed. I did a mixture of seeing family, a date day with Luke and some relaxing. And it was pretty much a perfect four days.

And I am so happy as the F1 is fully back. We’ve had three races so far and I think it’s set to be a great season (despite the fact that it’s almost certain Max will win the championship again). Before the season started I joined some WhatsApp groups for female F1 fans and it’s so great to be able to chat about the sport. Even if the most active group I’m in is the book group haha.

Some of my favourite things

For my birthday I got some lego flowers and I finally made them in Marc 2024 and I love them. They’re so clever and look really awesome in a vase on my desk. I want to get some more of the botanicals/ floral collection now to make an even bigger bouquet.

If you’re a book lover you’ve probably see the Mini Brands books over TikTok and I have gotten a bit obsessed. They’re little blind bags where you can collect mini books to build out a bookshelf. I need to reign myself in as I’ve already bought like seven of the capsules. But they make me smile and I just really want to build out a collection of all of the books.
