Things Just Got A Whole Lot Busier- February 2025 Overview

March 4, 2025
Brunch burger and hash brown bites from Hatch, St Albans

January was a relatively relaxed month by my standards, by February 2025 ramped it up. In hindsight I probably should have taken it a little easier as I have been quite tired but hopefully I’ll learn in March and April. Or at least baby may make me listen!

March is going to be a nice month as me and Luke have a week off to go away for my mum’s 60th (and his birthday). So I need to tell myself to take it easy while we’re away and get some R&R.

What I got up to in February 2025

I saw a lot of friends over the month catching up with my besties and old work colleagues. I also went to the evening of a friend’s wedding which was lovely.

But it’s also been a medical filled month (and it’s only going to get more intense!) Alongside my standard midwife appointments I ended up having to have my anomaly scan done twice as baby wasn’t in the right position. So I had two separate trips to the hospital in February 2025.

I did manage to take myself out on a little solo date in the middle of the month which was fab. All I really did was eat and read at various spots, but it was such a lovely day. My brunch at Hatch in St Albans was a personal highlight!

Our log cabin when it was first put up

Home updates

After trialing Starlink and not being impressed we could finally get full fibre at our home. So we had an engineer come out to drill some holes for the wires and we now have decent internet *touch wood*.

Luke and his dad have worked so hard in getting our log cabin built. Bar the finishing touches outside the main build is done. The photo above doesn’t do it justice as since I took it Luke has stained the whole cabin so it’s a much nicer colour, and the felt roofing has gone on which makes such a difference.

Hopefully over March we get can the internal wall built and start kitting it out. I’m so excited for this, not only to have the extra space but then it means babies room will be empty so we can start decorating and getting that ready.

Things I wanted and read in February 2025

I headed to the cinema twice this month. Me and my mum went to see the new Bridget Jones movie which I really enjoyed, but it was more emotional than I was expecting it to be. I definitely sobbed at a few moments in the film. But then there were a lot of funny moments too.

Then me and Luke went to see the new Captain America movie which was alright. I think the superhero movies feel a bit overdone now, but it wasn’t awful by any means.

I had two live shows during the month with Spiritbox at Alexandra Palace. And while the band themselves sounded great, the show was a bit lackluster for our group, we expected more. Then I had the exact same impression from seeing Cage the Elephant. Me and Luke didn’t end up staying for the whole set as it just wasn’t very inspiring. But I have two more live shows booked before baby gets here and I have high expectations for them.

All things books

I’ve had a couple of 5 star books for February 2025 which I’m very happy about.

A Deal with the Elf King is exactly the kind of book I love to read. It’s deep enough to create a real, breathing world, but you don’t need an index to enjoy it!

It’s my favourite type, I read for enjoyment and escapeism so when things are too complicated it’s not always right for me x

That was an interesting book to read. I will get a copy and get back to you about my thoughts.

You have lots to look forward to. I love the sound of the cabin, I would love to do a project and have something like that in our garden.

I can’t believe you’re building a cabin all by yourself, that is so so cool. I wish I was that handy. I am sure it will look beautiful once done.

I wish I could take any credit for it haha. My husband and his dad are the handiest people I know so I’m very lucky x

I am so amazed that you are building, that takes a lot of thought, consideration, and time. I cannot wait to hear and see the cabin once it is complete, I’d love one myself!

Ooh I really want to see the new Bridget Jones movie too. Nice you went with your mum. Think I might do the same.

I hope all of your appointments went well and it’s good you got to have some amazing food in the area. It sounds like Feb was a long month for you, I hope you find more downtime in March!

    • Rhian Westbury says:

Thanks, the appointments seem to have slightly slowed down for the minute which is good. But I think they’ll pick back up in April haha x
