Things Are Starting To Get Real – April 2025 Overview

As I sit down to write this on 1st May I have four weeks of work left before maternity leave. And if she comes on time eight weeks until we meet baby girl, and I have no idea how that happened.

Like every month this year April 2025 flew fast in an instant. It was a great month, but it went too quickly, and I know this current month is only going to go quicker.

What I got up to in April 2025

I went to my final pre-baby girl at the very start of the month to see You Me At Six. It was the bands farewell show and it was amazing, even if my back and feet really hurt by the end of the night. I’m so glad this was the final show I saw for a while because it was a special one.

Then the day after I went to see Abba Voyage with my parents and brother as part of my mum’s birthday present. I didn’t fully know what to expect, but it was incredible. The way it was presented, and how realistic all of the projections and movements looked was amazing. I’d highly recommend going to see it if you get a chance.

Me and Luke headed away to Carmarthen in Wales for the long Easter weekend. Luke was going to a sword making workshop for three days, so I used that time to fully relax, read and eat all the snacks. So it was utter perfection.

Then throughout the month I’ve been trying to catch up with friends and see people while it’s still comfortable for me to get out and about. I know it’s only going to get harder the closer to her due date we get.

Things I watched and read

Me and Luke headed to the cinema once in April 2025 to see Novocaine. I didn’t really know what to expect and it was a bit gorier than I’d thought, but it was a really enjoyable film with lots of funny moments.

TV wise me and Luke finished Full Swing, and despite not watching a lot of golf I really enjoy it. And the F1 season has continued to be a great watch, I’m so excited to see how the races pan out.

We’ve just started watching Daredevil and although we’re only about four episodes in I’m really enjoying it. Although that opening episode was heartbreaking.

My favourite books of April 2025

I had such a good reading month in April, other than one book everything was 4 stars and above. My top reads of the month were:

Shout outs to three other 4.5 star books of the month: Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross, Darkly by Marisha Pessi and Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Baby clothes hanging up on the washing line

Gearing up for baby

This is probably the biggest thing from April 2025 as it’s all getting a lot more real.

I’ve had various medical appointments this month from the midwife to the anaestist and all is currently looking good. Me and Luke did our NCT course over a few days of the month and we were lucky enough to meet some of the nicest people. It’s so great to be able to chat with people who are going through the same thing at the same time as us. And we learnt a fair bit from the course itself.

Near the end of the month my dad came over to help us decorate the nursery, and Luke’s been busy building furniture. So my May mission is to organise all of her stuff (because she has a lot!) and sort out her room ready for her arrival.

How was April 2025 for you? What did you get up to?

Disney broke my heart with that first episode, but I can see why they had to do it. Daredevil is so good.

Oof. I was so excited for Daredevil and then I watched the first episode. I had to emotionally recover a little, but I can see it was the right thing now. Man, that was rough, though.

I am so jealous you went to see Abba Voyage I really must get around to seeing it. It sounds like you are very prepared for babies arrival. I remember that time of getting ready for the arrival

I loved Daredevil and was there for the premiere. It was a very interesting show that drew me in, I want to rewatch it since it’s been a while!

I did like the original series on Netflix, but I think I prefer this reborn one from Disney plus x

I thought exactly the same thing about Novocane! I really didn’t expect so much gore. It’s great to hear how ready and excited you are for baby girl.
