The Shortest Month Of The Year, Done – February 2026 Overview

March 5, 2026
Me and Scarlett watching Bridgerton

That’s right, another month over and another monthly wrap up. February went so fast (as it always does), but I had another fab month.

I can’t get over that Scarlett is almost nine months old, so she’s almost been in our lives longer than she was cooking. We’ve booked a hall for her first birthday party and I know the time is just going to disappear.

Things I got up to in February 2026

At the start of the month I went to see Tina the musical in Milton Keynes with most of my family. The tickets were Christmas presents for my nan and auntie and we had such a lovely evening. The woman who played Tina Turner had such an incredible voice.

Over the month I’ve seen loads of friends for various catch ups, sometimes with Scarlett and others not. I love having some solo time without her, but I also love bringing her out to experience the world outside of our house.

Near the end of the month I had a school friends baby shower which was loads of fun. We had a yummy afternoon tea and played some fun games, and it reminded me how fast time goes as it was almost a year ago since mine!

Thinking ahead to going back to work

Time is going very quickly and I’m back at work in three and a bit months which is wild.

I’ve started slowly thinking about how things will look when I go back and starting to plan the days she’s going to be with grandparents.

During the month I did a KIT day in the office which was exhausting, but so good to see everyone in person. And then I did a half day at home to attend a specific meeting. I’m going to try and max out the 10 days I’m allowed to do as it makes a big difference when it comes to my pay.

Things I watched and read in February 2026

I had one gig during February which was Sleep Theory at Kentish Town Forum. It was one of the best gigs I’ve been to in a long time, the band were incredible. I can’t wait to see them again, but I expect the shows will be much bigger.

I had one cinema trip this month to see Wuthering heights. I’ve actually never read the book so didn’t care about the inaccuracies people keep talking about. The characters weren’t all that likeable Cathy especially, but I did enjoy it. I’ve thought about it a lot since watching it.

As soon as the second half of the Bridgerton series dropped I binged it, and I really loved it. I’ve been making my way through Heated Rivalry which I’m almost finished with, and I can’t wait to see how that ends.

I read 8 books across the month with my favourite two being:

Olio freebie goodies

Things I’ve been loving

At the start of the month we got some new bedroom furniture from Dusk including some drawers and bedside tables and I love them. The drawers have given me a lot more space, and they just look so much smarter.

During February I’ve started using the Olio app and it’s been a great help to us. With me being on the SMP (approaching payless) part of maternity leave getting a few bits here and there for free is a huge help. And with Scarlett weaning we’re getting through a lot more fresh fruit and veg than we ever have before.
