Getting Back To Reality- February 2024 Updates And Favourites

Mr Steak Hammersmith

For the first eleven days of February 2024 I was enjoying my honeymoon in the sunshine. Then it was time to head back to the reality of home and work again.

We had a night flight home and landed around 9am Sunday morning. Having not slept too much on the plane we needed to then stay awake until Sunday evening to try and get back into a normal sleeping pattern. So the first few days were a little tough and a bit tiring. But picking up our cats from the cattery was the best thing to come home to.

Going back to work wasn’t as tough as I thought, after a few days I had completely settled back. It does help that I enjoy my job and wasn’t dreading come back (anymore than you do post holiday). But I did have to go into the office on my third day back which was a little tough. Although it was nice to have a change of scenery and see people.

Here’s my February 2024 post-honeymoon updates and favourites.

Things I got up to in February 2024

I had two live shows in February including a very nostalgic gig from The Blackout. They were a band I saw quite a lot of times in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s. And this was their first tour in around nine years so it was full of sing-a-longs and a great night.

Before the show I headed into Camden Market to go to Melt for a cheese toastie with tomato and basil dipping soup and I couldn’t recommend it enough. I already want to go back and try their whole menu.

Book events seem to be happening at a heightened rate as I had another two in February 2024. Mid-month I went to Waterstones Picadilly for an event with Krystal Sutherland for her new book the Innvocations. I read her previous book ‘House of Hollow’ on holiday and absolutely loved it so I can’t wait to read the new one (even if it’s meant to be quite gory).

Then on the very last day of the month me and Luke headed into Holborn for an event with Jay Kristoff, the author of Luke’s favourite book ‘Empire of the Vampire’. The event was for the release of book two, and I started listening to the audio book of book one but hadn’t quite finished it for the event. It was about 28 hours long in my defense. The event was great though and we had such a fun time.

Right near the end of the month we were invited along for a meal at Mr Steak in Hammersmith who are an Argentinian Steakhouse. As big meat eaters we were very excited, but had quite high expectations. The restaurant smashed our expectations and we had one of the best meals we’ve had. We were able to try a lot of different dishes with my personal highlights being the artisan bread and calamari starters, my fillet steak was incredible, and of course the cannoli.

Things I read and watched

Due to the holiday I managed to read quite a bit over the month and it was a pretty good month. My top books were:

We only got to the cinema once in February and that was to see Argylle. I was mainly going for Henry Cavill and the cat, both of which were great. I’d seen mixed reviews about the movie but I enjoyed it, although I did have questions about the main character which I won’t spoil for those who haven’t seen it.

Two big Netflix TV shows came back and dominated my month. Drive to Survive began just ahead of the 2024 season. Like always it missed out on a lot of key moments but it always makes me so excited to see some behind the scenes etc. Then there’s also Love is Blind which is one of the only reality shows I still watch. Yes it’s trash and so few of the couples actually seem like they’re there for love, but I don’t care. And if Johnny and Amy don’t make it I’ll be so sad.

Things that made me happy in February 2024

Luke’s office was finished as soon as we got back from our honeymoon which is great for so many reasons. He finally has a space of his own in our house including the chance to have all his stuff out that’s been sitting in boxes for years. With all of his stuff having a new home I’ve got the upstairs of our house back and I’m so happy with how everything looks.

While the first Formula 1 race of 2024 didn’t start until March (last weekend) it is officially back. This winter season has felt a million years long and I can’t wait to see how the year pans out.

LOVALL empower leggings and top

Some of my favourite things

With Luke’s stuff moved I have more dedicated workout space which has made it way more enjoyable. So it was only right that I got some new workout wear thanks to LOVALL.

This deep forest green set including the empower top and leggings are just beautiful. The leggings have a sculpting high waistband so I don’t have to worry about them falling down when I’m on the bike, and they’re really stretchy so super comfortable. They even have two side pockets which I find really useful for my phone pre and post workout. The top has a lot of support and an internal bra, so you don’t have to worry about wearing additional layers.

LOVALL have a large range of sizing’s which I really appreciate ranging from 6-28 including regular, petite and tall lengths.

Corkicle

Stanley cups have been everywhere and you’ve probably spotted them loads across social media. But when we were on holiday we spotted Corkcicle’s which are a similar concept and loved the design and colours. We didn’t grab them in Jamaica as after some online searching it was actually cheaper to get in the UK. But we each ordered a Cold Cup XL which fits 30oz which is about 880ml of liquid.

And I have been obsessed with mine since we got them. It’s nice to hold and drink from, plus I can make a drink and it lasts forever. Plus as it’s triple insulated it keeps drinks cold for up to 12 hours and hot for up to 5 hours. So I can’t wait to use this in the summer time when I need a refreshing cold drink.

How was your February? What were your favourite parts of the month?
