Six Ways To Keep Cozy This Winter

Cozy Thermal Socks

I always forget how much colder stuff gets in January and after a reasonably mild Christmas period, I’ve struggled a little bit at how cold things have gotten. I always find I stay in a lot more during the colder weather as the thought of going outside is nowhere near as appealing as when the sun is shining and I don’t need to wear 20 million layers to keep my temperature above zero. Here are some of my tips for staying cozy this winter.

Cozy bedding & Quilt Covers

If I had a choice I’d spend the entire day snuggled up in my duvet cover and not move unless it was to go to the toilet or grab some food #priorities. Choosing the right bedding can make a huge difference as there’s nothing worse than feeling cold when you’re trying to nod off to sleep. Having a decent tog duvet is incredibly important as you’ll want a duvet thicker than you have in the summer time. For me it’s all well and good having a thick duvet but if you don’t have a cozy quilt cover then you’re doing it wrong. With the whole ‘hygge’ way of living being super popular choosing something which looks and feels cozy is just what you need. You can transform the way that you sleep during the winter with quilt covers from the Yorkshire Linen Store.

Heat Holder socks

Now I don’t know about you but my feet get super cold in the winter time and I find that a lot of the time I have to wear socks to bed, but even just wondering around the house I tend to get cold (probably because my living room/ kitchen is laminate flooring). While normal socks cut it sometimes when I discovered Heat Holders socks* I realized my feet hadn’t experienced warmth. These socks have their own tog rating, they’re that snuggly and warm and my feet have never felt better. I tend to pop these on in the evenings when I’m wondering around my flat on my own or when I’m snuggled up in my PJ’s ready for bed.

Candles Branded

Candles

While I burn candles all year round they are great in the winter as a bit of a warmer. I am addicted and usually have about 5 or 6 burning at a time (obviously I keep to a theme so it’s not an odd mixture of scents). As well as throwing a beautiful scent around my flat they are very cozy and the perfect addition to the hygge theme which seems to be sweeping the nation.

Fleece Blankets

I have a bunch of fluffy fleece blankets scattered around my flat for use when snuggled up on the sofa or trying to sleep on a particularly cold night and they’ve been a godsend. There’s nothing better when you’re watching a movie than being cocooned into a blanket with a hot chocolate on hand. I tend to opt for the ones in Primark as they’re so affordable but I have been meaning to buy a massive one which can be used as a mini duvet in my living room.

A Warm Bath

One of my favourite things to do to keep cozy is to have a nice warm bath. Now my warm is probably nowhere near hot enough by most people’s standards but a scalding bath just isn’t for me. When I’m having a lazy/ me evening I’ll regularly run a nice warm bath and lay down in the Lush filled bubbles and just relax. I always feel warmer when I come out and I’ll generally just get straight into my cozy PJ’s to keep the warmth.

Cover Up Cold Flooring

Do you have any tiling, wood or any other hard flooring inside your home? If so, then you’ll know just how cold and uncomfortable it can get during the winter! That’s exactly why it can be so beneficial to invest in a few thick, soft rugs that you can use to cover up cold flooring and help to make a barrier between your feet and the icy ground below. Your extremities, including your feet, lose heat faster than the rest of your body, so regularly walking around with bare feet on cold flooring will certainly ensure you feel the chill far more than truly necessary. Find a great website like Rugstore NE that offers a host of different options, as this way you can find a great rug that both matches your interior decor and also increases your coziness too!

Love this post! I consistently moan this time of year, as the moment I feel the cold, it takes me ages to warm up again – no matter how many layers I wear or how high I have the heating on. Plus my feet get super cold too! Other than blankets etc, I do love lighting candles. It just makes the room feel warmer and cosier!
