April Favourites – Things I’ve Been Loving

I know pretty much every month I say this but where the hell has the month gone?! I can not believe that it’s May already and we’re about to hit the all important bank holidays which I am so excited for as it means trips away and festival time. For April I have a whole load of beauty, skincare and lifestyle items and things that I have been loving so let’s get started.

Haircare

I am really enjoying trialling out more hair care brands as I am pushing to get my hair into a better condition and not having to wash it as often so it’s a long process. A few years ago I had a Birchbox subscription and I’m still wading my way through all of the samples I got back then but one which did stand out was the Parlour Moisturizing & Repairing Conditioner, so much so that as soon as I’d tried it I bought a full sized bottle. It takes a lot for a conditioner to keep my hair soft and silky even after blow drying but this one does just that and my hair just feels super nourished when ever I use it.

Skincare

I’m a huge fan of hand lotion but I find usually when I put it on my hands smell great and stay hydrated for a little while but it soon wares off and my hands don’t feel as soft anymore. Gloves In A Bottle* is slightly different though as it works with the outer layer of your skin cells to create a hydrating shield which doesn’t rub or wash away like other hand creams do and tends to last for a good 2-3 hours. For me it’s just great for moisture but for people like nurses, cleaners and hairdressers who have to wash their hands a lot this would be perfect, and it doesn’t interfere with the efficacy of alcohol in sanitation gels that nurses have to use.

I mentioned Healgel* in a recent post about moisturising skincare but I had to include it here too as I’ve been using it so much in April. It’s a moisturiser with a gel like consistancy very similar to the Clinique Moisture Surge which I also love and it not only hydrates my skin but it calms it down and reduces a lot of the redness that I tend to get on my cheeks. I used to hate not wearing foundation as my cheeks were always so red but this has really helped tone that down so I can have those much needed no make up days that my skin craves.

Moisturising - healgel

As you may have seen on my blog over the past month I have been trying out a lot of new skincare items in a bid to up my skincare game and BRYT are a brand I’ve been using quite a bit this month as they’re designed for all skin types from youthful skin to mature and ageing skin which I love as I rarely ever know as someone in her late twenties what range of skincare I should be using in the hope of keeping my skin looking good and youthful. I have been absolutely loving the Boost Serum* (£22) which is designed for tired and dehydrated skin as it refreshes the skin making it look more awake which is perfect for me first thing in the morning when I wake up.

The Day Cream* (£18.50) has also been a great addition to my day to day routine as it’s a mattifying moisturiser which is really good for when I’ve come out of the gym because despite using blotting papers my skin can get quite oily. It also has SPF15 and I’ve really been trying to use SPF daily to try and limit sun damage to my skin so any skin care which incorporates this is great in my books.

TV

I’ve been obsessed with watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race through April as the brand new series has started on Netflix, although I find it such a struggle having to wait a whole week to watch another episode as I binged watched all the other series’ pretty much back to back. Every single season has been engaging with some awesome characters and the latest season is just the same. If anyone watches Ru Paul where do you watch All Stars from as I’d love to catch up on all those seasons too?!

The other TV show I have been loving is the Santa Clarita Diet, and I’m going to be honest I wasn’t that into it to begin with but I found myself obsessed with it once I hit the end of season 1. The TV show is based around Drew Barrymore’s character who essentially dies and comes back to life but is undead and has to eat human flesh in order to survive. I found the humour a little cringy to begin with but once I got over that it was engaging and super funny so I’d suggest sticking with it if you’re unsure.

What have you been loving in April?
