Sunshine, Music And Good Times – June 2024 Overview

Celestial heart mandala tattoo on my leg

As I’m writing this at the end of June 2024, the sun is shining. It finally feels like summer time. And I really hope that by the time it’s live a few days later we haven’t reverted back to grey.

June was another month where I got up to quite a lot and had loads of fun but I didn’t feel burnt out. I feel like I’ve worked out how to balance myself better. Something I could have done with knowing in my 20’s.

Things I got up to in June 2024

All the live music and comedy in June 2024

After a whole year waiting June 2024 was Eras tour time. I went to Edinburgh night one so it was the very first UK show of the tour and I had such an amazing time. I’ll hold my hands up and say I don’t know all the Taylor Swift songs. And I had no idea about the surprise songs. But it didn’t matter as it was incredible either way despite standing for an unholy amount of hours. I’m trying to get last minute Wembley tickets so I can sit and enjoy the spectacle but we’ll see

I had three other gigs over the month which was just filled with all the nostalgia. And these three shows were all within ten days of each other. It started off with Billy Talent who I absolutely love and they were incredible. Then I saw Underoath play one of their albums in full as it turned 20 years old. I officially feel ancient. Then the month came to a close with an incredible outdoor show from Avril Lavigne.

Slipped in between a few of the gigs me and Luke headed to see a comedian called Randy Feltface. I’ve tried describing the comedy and nothing does it justice so just pop on Tik Tok or Instagram and have a look for yourself. The whole show was really funny and I had a great time.

All the love for friends and family

The rest of June 2024 was filled with seeing all the people in my life I love.

We had a lovely Father’s Day celebration even if it wasn’t quite warm enough for an outdoor BBQ. I met my friends new kitten and I definitely wanted to steal her as she was adorable. There was a girlie night of food, drink and shisha, and a roast dinner with a friend who’s back from Vietnam (briefly).

The things I watched watched and read

Just before my Cineworld card ran out I headed to see Inside Out 2. I really enjoyed it and I think the way they talk about different emotions and dealing with them is incredible, especially with the addition of anxiety and envy.

The second half of Bridgerton Season 3 came out and I loved it. Nicola and Luke played incredible roles as Penelope and Colin. It just made me fall in love with the world either more. I’m really intrigued to see who season 4 will focus on (when it’s announced) as I’m not sure whether I want Eloise or Benedict more.

I’ve started a new mission to rewatch all the Disney movies (animation, live action, Pixar etc) and do my own ranking list. I know it’s going to take me years but it gives me an excuse to rewatch things I’ve not seen as a kid, or some I’ve never seen. This month some of the ones I watched are Tarzan, Peter Pan, The Emporer’s New Groove and Beauty and the Beast.

All things books

I’ve had a great month of reading with a lot of 4 of 4.5 star books. My favourites were:

Barcode scanner to scan books

Things that made me happy in June 2024

During the month I had a tattoo appointment and added three new additions to my body. Two were smaller gap fillers on my arms and then I had the most beautiful celestial heart mandala on my leg which I am in love with. I love seeing my body change as more artwork is added. I’ve got another appointment booked with an artist in Leeds at the end of August where I’m getting some bookish related tattoos and I am so excited.

I made a Lucy and Yak order in June and bought what may now be my favourite trousers ever. I’m trying to add a little bit of colour into my life while still sticking to my safe black and these fit the bill entirely. They’re incredibly comfortable with an elasticated waistband and they just make me so happy to wear.

To go alongside it I got a lilac denim jacket* thanks to Cotton Traders which goes perfectly. But it’s been a little too warm to wear over the past few weeks. But I know as soon as Autumn kicks in this is going to be my go to.

All things books (again)

The Young Adult Literature Convention that I got to each year announced it’s line up and I’m so exciting. I’m trying to narrow down the authors I want to meet and I’m planning my TBR around it. But having that author list just makes it feel closer and more real.

The best thing I bought in June 2024 was a barcode scanner. This may sound odd but stick with me. Through the app Libib I’ve scanned every single book I own and created a virtual library. Not only do I have them all scanned but I’ve spent time marking what’s read vs unread, but also tagging them by series and theme. I have a Greek Mythology tag (obviously), a sports romance tag, and also a cats tag for any books about cats. The later seems to be mainly Japanese translated books, but sometimes I’m just in the middle for something cosy. I’m up to 824 physical books I own (not including Luke’s or the mass of graphic novels we have) so I’ve pretty much got a library.

Love how you were able to enjoy your June. It was indeed great to spend your months in good causes and things that give meaning to life. and of course, our happiness matters too much that we shouldn’t take it for granted.

Your tattoo is beautiful! I love all the details. Is that a cat amoeba to the side of it? Cute! So lucky that you got tickets to the Eras tour! It is impossible to get tickets here.

Ahhh my gosh the Eras tour!!! What a dream come true honestly! I LOVE TS <3 I wish I was able to attend one of her shows here but she never came to NY 🙁 Either way though, the concert film was awesome and I'm so happy you got to experience it ^_^ Bridgerton S3 was sooo good! I hate having to wait 2 yrs until S4. I've always loved Penelope tbh and never understood some of the hate her character got from S2…but I'm really glad she was able to redeem herself in their eyes and she got her moment to shine. It was so sweet and beautiful to watch play out. Nicola is amazingggg!! You've been reading so much too! I've fallen behind on my reading list this summer but I'm hoping to get back on track this weekend with a little down time finally…sounds like some really great reads 😀

    • Rhian Westbury says:

You’re so right Nicola is incredible, and her and Eloise have always been my fav characters so I’m hoping at least Pen has had her time to shine x

It sounds like June was a month filled with creativity and new additions! Your tattoos sound stunning, especially the celestial heart mandala—what a meaningful piece. Adding some colorful pieces to your wardrobe with Lucy and Yak trousers and a lilac denim jacket sounds like a great way to mix things up.
