Living so close to London is both a blessing and a curse as it gives so much choice for days out but it also means that sometimes there can be too much choice if you’re not sure what to do. One thing I do know is that I almost always want a new outfit, generally a dress – like these ones from Damart – when it comes to date night as I like to treat them as special occasions.
I love going into London and have an extensive list of places I want to visit and things I want to do but they are not always date night material so here are some great choices of things to do on date night.
For this option, you may want to bring in another couple and do a double date but escape rooms are such fun activities to do on a date night and there’s so much choice in London. I’ve done a few now and the Lock’d escape rooms are some of my favourite, and me and Luke have doubled dated to do two of their rooms now which has been so much fun. An escape room actually shows you a lot about a person and how their mind works such as whether they’re hands on, logical or take a more thoughtful background approach.
Cocktails are always a great option for date night as you can’t beat a nice drink, but going somewhere immersive like ABQ’s Breaking Bad cocktails or The Cauldron in Elephant and Castle help to get you involved in making the drinks. Me and Luke went to The Cauldron recently and while the drinks themselves weren’t the best I’ve had it was such a fun process working together to create our drinks and play with magic, smoke and fire so it’s definitely a bonding experience.
Here are six of the best cocktail making masterclasses in London.
If sitting down and drinking isn’t necessarily your thing how about something a bit more active with an element of competition?! Me and Luke went to Whistle Punks in Vauxhall where you learn how to axe throw and compete to see who can get the most points. Axe throwing wasn’t something I was particularly good at, but I enjoyed doing it. We had such a fun time on the night, and Luke was in his element as he was really good.
Me and Luke tend to do a lot of foodie related things on date nights as we are huge foodie lovers. There are loads of really great restaurants in London but if you’re looking for something a bit different head to Biscuiteers in Notting Hill which not only is the most adorable shop but allows you to do biscuit decorating with some of the tastiest biscuits I have ever eaten. You can choose to add this onto an afternoon tea booking which means you can eat as you ice and it’s a really fun activity to do which will bring out your creative side.
What’s better than a good laugh on date night?! The Comedy Store is pretty much an institution in London and is a great place to catch some comedy especially on their improv nights when a selection of comedians come out on stage and do an array of games and skits which are all unique and improvised. I’ve been to this a few times now and it’s always as funny as the time before, how the comedians think so quickly on their feet is amazing. At The Comedy Store, you can head in early to have dinner or there’s plenty of amazing restaurants around the area as you’re smack bang between Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.

An escape room would be a really fun way to break the ice and get to know someone on the first date:)
Biscuit decorating sounds so much fun! I’d love to take my husband for that experience, maybe on our next wedding anniversary which is just around Valentines!

Def up for the cocktail making but I’m so nervous about escape rooms. I don’t know why! haha!
There’s so much to do in London, I wish we lived nearer and not in the middle of the country sometimes! Haha. I have always loved the idea of escape rooms (as long as they weren’t scary!) and biscuit decorating sounds adorable!
Great suggestions, these! I had a go at axe throwing a few years ago during a Viking festival here in Shetland and I loved every single minute of it!
Okay I am totally up for Axe throwing, that sounds like a fab idea to get rid of some stress and anxiety x
