Accessories Worth Investing In To Work With Any Outfit

This is a collaborative post but all thoughts and opinions are my own

Working for a fashion retailer I know I spend far more money on clothing and accessories than I should. While clothes are worth investing money in, it’s the accessories that can jazz up an outfit. Investing in key accessories can last a long time and transition you from season to season. I still remember the first non-high-street handbag I bought and how great I felt. That bag was used almost every day but lasted 2-3 years.

Here are some of the accessories worth investing in

A decent shoulder bag

Small crossbody bags can be great in certain situations, but a shoulder bag is the most versatile. Need a bag to take to work that will fit your lunch in? Need a bag to carry all your summer essentials? Need a bag as hand luggage on your next trip? Well, a shoulder bag large enough to fit all your essentials in is a must-have.

If you’re looking to get a decent quality one without splashing too much cash, Radley has some great options. Just think how much you rely on a bag to keep your essentials safe. So it’s well worth investing in a good quality one.

A hip/ waist belt

I don’t know about you, but all too often I find a nice dress but the fit isn’t quite right. It’s a bit baggy in some places or just lacks a little shape. Having a good reliable hip/ waist belt will help in situations like this as so often a belt can pull something shapeless in and make it flattering.

A belt is something which can last such a long time. I know I have belts from almost a decade ago as they were of decent quality. As they can be adjusted in size it doesn’t matter too much if your weight yo-yo’s just a little. At the moment I’m looking for one with a little chain detailing on. But I’m not having too much luck.

Superdry Plimsoles

A statement pair of everyday shoes

First of all everyone’s idea of everyday shoes might be different. For me, it’s vans/ canvas plimsoll style shoes, but to some people, it might be pumps or even small heels. If its heels I envy you as I struggle to walk in most things which elevate me. By going for your everyday style you know it will be a pair of shoes you’ll get great wear out of.

But having a statement pair of what you wear on a day-to-day basis can jazz even up the plainest outfit. This might be a bright colour pair, for example, I have some mustard Superdry plimsoll’s and they just help pull an outfit together. But it might be something with a lot of patterning or something else which stands out.

Statement earrings

I don’t tend to change my general jewellery all that often but earrings I’m not as attached to. This might be because I have 5 lobe piercings on each side so there’s plenty of options for change. Even when I’m wearing the plainest outfit, just throwing on some statement earrings can make a huge difference.

Perhaps some large hoops, or something with a massive drop. I have gold earrings with green resin palm trees hanging from them. And large tortoiseshell hoops which match every outfit I own. As someone who wears a lot of black and dark colours, earrings allow me to be a bit more adventurous.

What accessories could you not be without?

I’m like you and need a softer more comfortable pair of shoes when it comes to work. I love the super dry plimsolls maybe in a different shade for me though.

I’m a bag girl, so having the right one for the occasion is important to me. Having said that shoes need to be comfortable yet flattering, I love the colour of the SuperDry ones you have included

I agree about the belt, I bought a decent leather belt with studs from H&M a few years ago and it’s done me we ever since.

I love those superdry trainers…I’ve got a cheap pair which are starting to fall apart so love the idea of investing in some like that, especially in that colour.

I agree all of these – I especially like the yellow sneakers of course as I;m such a sneaker junkie as well as a big fan of yellow things.

I completely agree, a good handbag is a great investment – that’s what I tend to spend the majority of my money on x

I’ve always invested in handbags, they are definitely something you should. I try to make sure the ones I get can go with everything and are hard wearing – Also, love those Superdry pumps. I will have to go and look at them next time I’m in town x

You’ve got to have a good shoulder bag, I have a gorgeous one that I actually bought in ASDA of all places! Love the Superdry shoes.

I’m with you on the shoes and I love teaming a brightly coloured shoe or sandal with an outfit. Not really a belt person though as I don’t find them comfortable and I’m always conscious of my tummy.

I decent pair of shoes is a definite must, I am lucky I can wear whatever shoes I want as long as they are sensible x
