Over the past few years, advent calendars have exploded. Previously it would just be which type of chocolate you wanted behind the little cardboard doors. But now you can get an advent calendar with pretty much anything you want inside. Beauty items, alcoholic drinks, perfumes, jewellery and so much more. And while the choice is amazing and I find myself lusting over so many the prices can be extortionate.
Yes a lot of them are great value for money in terms of the products inside. But this doesn’t stop them being a bit excessive. There are so many alcoholic and beauty ones especially which are over £100 and on top of actual Christmas presents it’s a bit much. But here are a few alternative advent calendars which are all under £25.
The Beanies advent calendar* (£20) is just what you want for coffee lovers with a full 24 doors to open. Behind door 1 you get a mug to start you off, and then 2 sticks of flavoured coffee behind each door. This is a great way to be able to try loads of different flavours of coffee including mint and nutty hazelnut which accompany the mug behind door 1.
What’s behind each door is assorted so each one isn’t exactly the same. But I’ve featured some of the brands different coffee’s before and there are some really interesting flavours such as Mince Pie and Mulled Wine. So it’s a very festive calendar and such a great price for coffee lovers. On Christmas eve you get a full jar of coffee in a mystery flavour as a special treat.
I’ve had a Yankee Candle Wreath Advent Calendar* (£24.99) before and absolutely loved it. It’s such a festive looking calendar which looks like an actual Christmas wreath which is nice. And even though it’s a basic cardboard one it does feel sturdy and secure.
Behind door number 1 you get a small tealight holder which I think is great as not everyone will have one. This means you don’t have to worry about the safety of where you place the tealight. Then you get your first tealight to burn. The rest of the candle features 24 different tealights across 8 different scents. This means you’ll get the chance to try out a few different scents, including some special festive ones.
The scents are a mixture of old favourites and new scents which means even if you’re an avid Yankee lover there’s still something new to be discovered. The scents are typically festive including Snowflake Cookie, Cinnamon Stick and one of my favourites Pomegranate Gin Fizz. The great thing about these is you can burn them during the evening when you’re at home and as they’re small you can use them quite quickly.
I’m planning on giving this calendar to my mum as I know she’ll enjoy burning the candles as she sits and watches her soaps each evening.
I love the idea of alternative advent calendars – although I have already got myself my chocolate one! I love the look of the Yankee Candle one.
I have been paying off for a treat box one for months to save on money and I can’t wait for it to arrive x
I love the candle advent calendar. Such a lovely idea and also a great way to try a large range of different scents.
I love that there’s a much greater range of advent calendars available these days and one for every interest really.
Ooh I need the coffee one! I get my partner and so a different Lego one each
I love the lego ones, but I need to find something to do with them afterwards in terms of displaying them x
I’d love the Yankee Candle one, my house would smell amazing all through advent! I got a marshmallow calendar this year, I can’t wait to start opening it.

Ohh a marshmellow one, that’s a bit different. Enjoy that x
Love the idea of something a little different when it comes to advent calendars . I love beanies so the beanies one would be an absolute treat for me 🙂
I love the yankee calendar, it gives you a chance to try all the different smells out. And you might just find a new favourite.
Both of them are lovely advent calendars, I love lighting tea lights this time of year! Makes the house more cosy.
Oh those little candles are just super cute! Lovely ideas.
I do love how Advent Calendars have become more of a treat to open each day rather than just a small chocolate that is easily eaten and forgotten
Sometimes they’re a bit over the top with how much of a treat it is though don’t you think?! x
