Four Ways To Pamper Yourself Ahead Of Christmas

Birthday pampering session scrub

I’m generally pretty low maintenance when it comes to my beauty and grooming routine. But Christmas and the festive period is always a good time of the year to pamper yourself. Be that because you want to be Christmas party-ready, or you just want to give yourself a treat. Here are some of the ways you can treat and pamper yourself at places like Bella Medspa.

Book yourself in for a wax

I’d never had a wax before this December but decided it was time to give it a go. Shaving is never fun and as I’m going back to aqua aerobics I didn’t fancy doing it every week. I was invited along to the Strip Wax Bar to give it a try and I’m going to admit I was a little scared beforehand. Especially as I’d opted for underarm and downstairs *eek*.  I built it up in my mind as being something that would hurt a lot but the therapist I had at the Soho branch put me at ease. I’m going to admit most of the time that she was doing the wax I couldn’t feel anything. I was so impressed with the finish and how quick and easy it was. So I don’t think I’ll be going back to shaving.

Get a manicure

I tend to paint my nails myself throughout the year, to save money if nothing else. But at Christmas, I love to get my shellac done professionally so it lasts. I love nothing more than sitting down for just under an hour and relaxing. It’s one of the only times I won’t be doing something or using my phone. I opt for shellac and find it lasts just over a month. So if I go mid-December it can last for Christmas parties, the festive period, New Year, and my birthday two weeks into January.

I normally go quite neutral when I get shellac but I’m thinking a dark red with glitter on it this year.

A professional hair dye

I’ve not been able to dye my hair myself while being back at my parents. So earlier this year I went back to a natural brown colour as it was far less maintenance than the red I’d had for almost a decade. But at Christmas time I’m pushing the boat out and treating myself to balayage as I want a change.

I don’t spend a lot of money on my hair as I don’t get it cut too often (the perk of no longer having a fringe). And I go to my hairdresser’s house so it’s much cheaper than you’d pay if you went into a salon. That’s because a professional job is getting more expensive all the time. So as the cost of living continues to rise, why not grab a  bottle of your favourite brand from your local store and have a girl’s hair dye night in?

Get your eyebrows threaded

I am rubbish with my eyebrows and pretty much do zero maintenance on them. I hate plucking them as I can never get the shape right. And I’m a bit of a wimp. So I put it off for as long as possible. I got my eyebrows threaded before my friend’s wedding in the summer and didn’t find it too painful. So this festive period I’ll get opting for that again so they look nice.

Do you pamper yourself over the festive period?

Apart from the wax, I do all of these before Christmas. Love getting my eyebrows threaded, I just feel it cleans my face up.

I usually do – or just after! Hoping to book in a haircut and a hair dye as dying it at home just isn’t the same.

I could really do with a pamper before Christmas. I always feel fabulous after a professional hair dye, must book an appointment.

Those are amazing ideas to pamper ones self. I miss my old hair color and I’ll probably want to dye my hair again soon or maybe have a mani-padi.
