If there is anything that 2020 has taught us it’s that we need to do things that make you feel happy. Like most of us, I have learnt to appreciate a lot of things during the COVID crisis that I didn’t before. And it’s caused me to re-evaluate what it is that makes me feel happy and what actually brings joy to my life. Was it spending every single evening out of the house and running myself down. Or was it taking a slightly slower pace of life and appreciating my home as well.
A lot of us take things for granted and while big things like going on holiday and celebrating with friends do bring me joy, here are some of the smaller things which make me feel happy.
There is pretty much nothing better than a fresh pair of socks. And I should know as I have a lot of them. They’re also a great way to add a little fun to your outfit even if you’re trying to look ‘professional’. I’ve been lucky to work with Sock Shop* who provided me with some goodies which have certainly made me feel good. For me, it’s all about having something brightly coloured and whimsical where possible so these Elle Patterned Socks* are right up my street.
Socks are also a great way to showcase your love for a particular character, TV show, or movie. And of course Harry Potter house socks* had to be one of the choices I picked up. I’m also one of those people who had a full Christmas collection hidden away ready to bring out in Mid-November. It’s full of jumpers, T-shirts, PJ’s and of course, socks. This Home Alone Duo* is the new addition to my 2020 Christmas collection.
I love a good at-home pamper session but sometimes I don’t have the time or energy to go all out. But one thing always guaranteed to make me feel good and happy is a face mask. How my skin feels will depend on the type of mask I use but I have enough for any occasion. Cooling or hydrating masks make my skin feel plump and juicy afterwards. But there’s nothing more satisfying than a good peel-off mask which makes my skin feel fresh and clean.
I’ve certainly been watching a lot more Netflix in 2020 than I had before. Working from home means I tend to watch a few episodes at lunchtime. And without the commute, I can fit some in before or after work at times. I’ve had so many things on my to-watch list and it’s nice to finally be ticking some of them off my list. Alongside trying out new things.
In the past month, I finished re-watching all of the series’ of New Girl which I loved. I binge-watched Selling Sunset in a week which was a little addictive. Then watched The Million Dollar Beach House which was okay but nowhere near as good as SS. I moved onto Trinkets which just jumped out to me in my Netflix recommendations which I really enjoyed. And now I’m ticking Schitts Creek off my list. I believe I’m on season four now.
The final thing which makes me happy is decluttering and organising. For some people, this may seem like hell but I find it really satisfying. As we officially moved into our new house in Mid August there has been a lot of organising to do. With each box I unpack, each drawer/ cupboard I organise and each storage basket I buy I feel a step closer to a finished house. There’s still a lot to do with more renovation work on the cards. But that’s one of the fun parts, it’s never-ending. Once the house is unpacked I can go back over every area and reassess what we still need. And if we need it is it in the right space of the house.

I love this post. Youāre right this year has certainly taught us a lot.
We have to find our happiness where ever we can! I actually have a sock obsession x
And also we need to appreciate the small things which make us smile, it doesn’t always have to be big expensive things x
I love new socks and the Harry Potter ones are amazing. I also love the Home Alone Socks too.
As daft as it sounds, I am there with you on the socks! I have far too many pairs of comfy socks, they are my absolute go to as soon as I walk in the door! Sim x
You can’t beat them, something soft and comfy, but also something to make you smile x
I love cleaning and decluttering too. There is something cathartic about it. Spending time with my son makes me happy and planning holidays!
I love planning holidays too, there’s something exciting about booking things, looking for things to do etc x
Apart from decluttering lol, I do love binge watching Netflix shows, masks, chocolate and a load of things.
I love a good film, TV series is fine and i try to spend time to watch but its hard with work, blog and kids, but a film is one of my favourite things. im an organiser so decluttering is something i also like to do.
Binge watching TV series also makes me happy. I’ve been catching up with American Horror Story. I also love decluttering too!
I’ve actually never watched American Horror Story but I need to try it out as I reckon I’ll love it x
Nothing beats a pair of new socks! I love my comfy slipper socks, I live in them. A good face mask is great too, they make me stop and relax because I can’t see without my glasses on.
There are so many lovely gifts here for sure. I must admit I am loving those Harry Potter Socks for sure x
I love to block off a day and binge watch a series too. It’s nice to have a change from working all the time or running around after the kids.
For me, I do feel a lot happier after I have organised a messy room as it makes me feel more calm and relaxed. I also find myself enjoying some great shows on Netflix, at the moment I am binge watching Strager Things
Ohh stranger things, I wish I hadn’t seen it before so I could binge it from the start x
I need to get those socks for my husband (Kevin lol). Simple things make such a different right? I feel buying more indulgent beauty care instead of clothes for me has worked during lockdown
I’ve done the same, it’s really made me rethink my wardrobe and clothing situation x
I love doing a face mask! In fact, I think I might do one tonight – it always relaxes me.
I totally agree with ALL of these! There’s nothing better than binge watching Netflix in a nice, cosy pair of socks while treating your skin to a face mask. Bliss!

I am so with you on binge watching a TV series. I have one more This is Us to finish and then I am done……..until November. I need to find something new to watch now
