I love love love going to a spa or salon and getting treatments done, but they can get expensive. Just getting shellac on my nails and my eyebrows threaded sets back about £35. And I can’t be doing that every few weeks. But over the years I’ve spent a lot of time doing at home pamper sessions to make myself feel pampered. But all within the confines of my own home. Sometimes it’s nice to not have to make small talk, or even have to put on clothes, just saying.
Palmers were incredibly generous and sent me a bundle of items for my at-home pamper session. This included scrubs, lotions, oils and creams, but two of my favourites were the Coconut Sugar Body Scrub* and the Coconut Oil Body Oil*. I’m notoriously bad when it comes to scrubs but I’ve been trying to incorporate it into my routine more. And my skin is loving it. The sugar scrub is great for subtle exfoliation and great for doing before applying tan. One of the things I loved most about it was the subtle peppermint scent to it which was so refreshing.
Then body oils are a pretty new thing for me, I’ve never really used them before. And I really feel like I have been missing out as my skin felt so moisturised and hydrated.
Generally, once I’ve had an initial shower to scrub my skin and feel fresh it’s time for a bath. Currently, at my parents, we don’t have a bath so I have to make a trip to my Nan’s for this part of my pampering. I’m counting down the days until we move so I can jump in a bath and do my at-home pamper session in my own home.
Now I’m pretty liberal when it comes to bath products as everything is better when your bath looks and smells amazing. I am still pretty obsessed with the BetterYou Magnesium Flakes as they’re so relaxing on the body. These always go into my bath, or Luke’s if I’m running one for him. Low levels of Magnesium is associated with poor sleep, migraines, anxiety and depression so these flakes will help your physical and mental wellbeing.
Then I love a good oil and you can’t get more luxurious than the Olverum Bath Oil. This is pretty concentrated so you don’t need much but this is really softening on my skin. And whenever I get out I feel amazing. Then, of course, a selection of bubble bath and bath bombs always get thrown in so the bath looks pretty, is full of bubbles, and smells amazing.
For me, one of the most important things about having a bath is really relaxing. I spend so much time staring at my phone or a screen that it’s nice to leave that aside. Music is so important in an at-home pamper session and this Lexon Mino X Mini Water-resistant Bluetooth Speaker* (£39.95) is what I’ve been using recently. It’s nice to have something you can connect up and leave running regardless of where you are. If you want to pop it on the side of the bath when you’re relaxing you can. Or if you want it by the sink when you’re doing your skincare so you can sing along you can.
Next, up once my skin is soft it’s about making it feel smooth and hair-free. And that’s where the Wilkinsons Sword Inuition 4 in 1 tool* comes in. As I’ve started to get older I’ve discovered hair growing in random places like my toes, or these few annoying hairs on my chin. The 4 in 1 tool has different heads to shave and style areas like your face and bikini region. It’s been specially designed to keep the blades from touching the skin which means I feel more comfortable using it on my face for example. There’s also a really tool eyebrow feature where you can shape and trim your eyebrows.
One of the final things I like to do is smother myself in some sort of cream. As we’re slowly approaching Spring I’ve been using the Palmers Natural Bronze Body Lotion* as it makes my pasty skin look a little more human. The cream itself is reasonably thick and super hydrating. The colour itself starts to develop after a few days of use but it’s quick-drying and sinks into the skin quickly so you don’t have to wait long before you can dress or get into bed.
Generally, by this point, I’ll also have done a face scrub or exfoliating mask as well. Something like the Fresh Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash which smells incredible and is a more gentle exfoliator. Or the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme mask because it’s a classic for a reason.
I love getting my nails done but just can’t justify the constant expense at the moment but I do love painting my nails. Although I’m not that great at painting them, and quite often I can make a mess. I tend to rest my hands on books or magazines with the constant fear of making a mess. With the constant worry every time I dip the brush back in that I’m going to tip over the bottle of varnish.
But now I have the Nailzee Manicure Hand Rest* (£9.99) I don’t have that fear. There’s a bottle holder at the top to put the varnish in so no more potential spills. The holder is removable so if you don’t want to use the hand rest every time you don’t have to. Although for me the hand rest is great as it confines any mess I make and encourages me to leave my hands and let my nails dry. Which more often than not I don’t do. Or at least not for long enough!

This sounds really lovely. I love adding magnesium flakes to my bath, so relaxing. And the Flat Share was a great read!!
I love cocoa butter and the Palmer’s range has always been one of my favourites. The fragrance is so intense, I just love it!
I love having a good pamper session, makes you feel so much better in yourself and it’s a great way to spend time is isolation
Yep, seeing as we’re indoors more we can do with some pampering and self-care x
These sounds like a great products and I think all of us needs to have a pampering session as we are getting so much stressed from the things that are happening today.
I don’t get time for home pampering – though I am pretty bad at making the time for it. I do like bubble baths on those rare weekend afternoons I get some time to myself
Hopefully that may be one benefit of being inside is you can make time now!? x
I think that finding the time to pamper ourselves during this time of crisis could really help our mental health
Definitely in need of a pamper session. I can’t wait till this is all over and I can go to get my nails done or a massage. But until then I’m gonna have to treat myself at home. Luckily have a lot of beauty products to get me through! Hope you are staying safe x
I could definitely do with a massage! x
I could so do with a pamper session myself and all your suggestions sounds so enticing especially Palmers products
I could really do with a pamper session right now, but unfortunately not much chance self isolating with three kids. Love the sound of the mini speaker, so cute.
Just what you need to boost your spirits during a lock-down, a lovely pampering session, lots of fab products here!
With my chronic pain I find that a magnesium flake bath really helps to ease the random aches and niggles. Like you I’m starting to discover random hairs so feel that I will need to invest in the Wilkinson Sword 4 in 1 🙂
Oooh I do love Palmers and the scrub sounds amazing, it’s been a while since I’ve used any of their products but I do love the body butter especially for dry shins x
Something I can do this weekend. I really need to find time to calm my mind and de-stress. Once we are out of community quarantine, I will get a full body massage!
Definitely in need of a pamper session at the moment, will have to wait until the kids are in bed though
Great article, my eldest daughter would like much of this and have forwarded her this to have a look at, she loves these type of pampering sessions and is always looking out for ideas.
