*This is a collaborative post, all thoughts on wall art are my own
I’ve spoken about our house purchase just a few (hundred) times but all things considering we’re in a pretty good position. We still the toilet and bathroom to complete alongside our garage renovation. And we’ve not even touched the garden. But considering the timeline I have to keep reminding myself of how far we’ve come. And how much work we’ve done. One of the things I’ve been focusing on over the past month or so are the finishing touches. It’s amazing how much difference a rug, or some wall art can make to a room.
We have some artwork that we brought from my old flat alongside extra bits we’ve bought but we don’t want to rush buying art prints for the space. Here are some of the spaces we want to fill once we find the right prints and pictures.
We have a beautiful stone colour on the wall of our kitchen diner. But it means there’s a big blank space above our dining room table which needs something bright to make the space pop. We’ve kept things quite neutral in there with grey and wood tones so when it comes to art work we’d love some colour. Having some artwork over the table will also help to distinguish the two parts of the room into designated kitchen and dining spaces.
Looking around at prints we’ve constantly been drawn to colourful animal prints like the elephant canvas print below. And there are loads of choices when it comes to animal artwork. For this space we’d love to get an actual painting as opposed to just a print as something we’d keep for a long time.
We have quite a lot of wallspace as you go up our stairs as it’s enclosed with wall on both sides. So I love the idea of having loads of framed prints in a gallery style. I’ve seen so many gallery styles and they always look jazzy, but I’ve never created one myself. But I love the idea of having a mixture of framed photographs, bold quotes and typography mixed in with some striking graphics or movie related images.
The walls up our staircase are grey so again a very neutral backdrop to be able to inject some colour into the space. And it would be so nice to walk past these memories and prints every day when I go up and down the stairs.
Our living room is a pretty large space which I love and we spend a lot of time in. But there are a lot of blank spaces around the room including behind our sofa. This is one of the spaces where I have no idea about what I’d like to put there, although anything that has either teal or gold in it would match the theme of the room very well.

It’s so true, but is something I struggle to get ‘just right’! We are decorating our downstairs toilet at the moment and I’m trying to find the perfect print to go in there, but am really struggling. Thank you for the tips!
It can be so tough to commit to something when it’s going in your space x
Picking artwork for the home is so hard because I think it has to represent you and be something you will love forever.
It really does finish off a home though x
There is nothing quite like having art in the home is there – it can really bring your personality into the room.
I love wall art and have a centre piece in almost every room , I change it up to with the seasons 🙂
Eventually, that’s what I’d love would be to change up the pictures for seasons x
Art in the home can really give it a great look and feel. Ithink adding something bright above your dining room table is a good idea. Choose wisely and it will finish the room well.
We have quite a bit of wall art in our home – various canvases and various art or quote prints. They can really make a room, I feel.
I think art is such a great way to either bring colour into a home, create a focal point or to help tie together a colour scheme. We recently decorated so now I am hoping to get a few new pieces to really make our home feel more homely!
It really does a great job of adding colour to the house and tieing everything together x
I love that elephant picture, it is stunning. I am after one of a colourful highland cow (sounds random but it is stunning)
The best but about decorating is adding the finishing touches . I love all your ideas.
Beautiful prints! I’ve recently gotten into ordering prints and framing them myself rather than buying pre done shop ones. I have a fab vogue one
