New Homeware That I’ve Been Loving Lately

I’ve always loved homeware, even when I was living at home and just had my room to fill with trinkets. Buying our house last year sent me into complete overdrive as I have so many rooms I can buy things for.

When this post goes live the shops will have re-opened in the UK after lockdown, but as I’m writing this I’m having Homesense withdrawal symptoms. There’s nothing I love more than browsing around homeware stores. But for the past three months, the closest I’ve gotten is the homeware sections at our local supermarkets. Not quite the same, although supermarkets have really upped their game.

I wanted to share with you some new homeware and bits from around the house that I’ve been loving. Let me know what you think of everything in the comments.

New homeware from Sara Miller

I am the biggest fan of Sara Miller homeware and I already own quite a few things kitchenware items from the brand. I did a whole post not that long ago featuring my afternoon tea collection full of some gorgeous Sara Miller pieces. But the latest items I was kindly gifted by the brand are these three stunning pieces of wall art. It wasn’t until very recently that I realised Sara Miller even did wall art, but I’m so glad I discovered them.

Sara Miller London is an award-winning British designer who is known for playful prints, vibrant patterns, and her use of colour.  e mAll of the pieces really stand out with their beautiful colour and the prints fit so well against the yellow patterned wallpaper we have in our spare bedroom. And one thing I love is that they’re made and printed in the UK, with each piece of art hand-signed by Sara Miller.

We ended up with three of the smaller size prints; the pink zebra, the blue hummingbird and the coral monkey pieces. They’re all stunning with so much punch considering their size. The monkey piece above is my favourite of the three, but they’re all stunning with gold detailing that just pops when the lights hit it. These smaller-sized prints are 30cm x 30cm in size and come in a matte white wooden frame which really makes the prints themselves pop. But recently the brand launched a collection featuring some larger pieces of artwork that are 53cm x 53cm in size.

There are so many different designs to choose from, we really had trouble narrowing it down to the three which span our wall. If you love the designs but are looking for different products then there’s so much to choose from including cushions, bedding, kitchenware, stationery and so much more.

New homeware- Table lamp

Back in January, I had some birthday money to spend so I went on a hunt for a reading lamp for our living room. I wanted something simple but that stood out. And that’s when I found this brass and pink table lamp from made.com and fell in love. The base is brushed brass which matches our living room really well. And the pink textured glass shade is really beautiful. I’d seen quite a few lamps like this on the internet but most of them were £100+ which seemed like a lot for a lamp. This one worked out at £69 which seemed much more reasonable.

It did take a long time to arrive, around 12 weeks as a lot of the made.com items are made to order in small batches. That coupled with pressure on global shipping for parts made it a long wait. But a wait that was certainly worth it.

Trying to keep plants alive

I’m notoriously bad at keeping plants alive. Although in my old flat I blame the lack of decent sunlight spots. After we’d been in our house for a little while I decided to place a Beards & Daisy order for three new plant babies. I picked up a small aloe vera plant, a medium-sized spider plant, and a medium-sized snake plant. All three of these are meant to be pretty easy to maintain and good for beginners like me.

The packaging of the items when they were delivered was great, and the brand does a really good collection of pots you can buy to go alongside your pots. Although I would say to check any plants when you get them as I had to repot my spider plant after just 2 weeks of getting it. But *touch wood* at the moment they all seem to be thriving and I’m so happy with the purchase.

But the one item I bought that I couldn’t be without this soil moisture sensor that I picked up on Amazon for under a tenner. You just pop it into the soil of your plants at various points and it will let you know how moist the soil is. I overwater plants, so this helps reign me in as if the soil is still moist I don’t need to keep showering the plants. Hopefully, this will help me keep my plants alive for longer.
