*This is a guest post about the best Omega watches as worn by James Bond

Ever since James Bond first appeared on our screens in 1962, the secret agent has captured the hearts of film lovers everywhere. Bond is well known for his lavish style, charismatic personality and, of course, his use of extravagant gadgets and technology. Not to mention his iconic catchphrases!

To complete his fashionable appearance, James Bond is often seen wearing some of the world’s most premium watches. The character has brought the spotlight on brands such as Rolex, Breitling and Seiko. With the Rolex Submariner as one of his favourites. Most recently, he is found sporting watches manufactured by Swiss watchmaker Omega, the franchise’s official watch partner since 1995. Over 25 years later, Bond continues to wear Omega watches in the latest blockbuster films.

The next film, titled No Time To Die, is due out in cinemas later this month. And it will mark Daniel Craig’s last appearance as the titular character. To commemorate the upcoming release, we thought it would be good to provide an article that looks at Bond’s watch-wearing history. With input from Perpetual Time, a specialist in Omega servicing, we will examine the most famous Omega watches as worn by 007 himself.

#1 Omega Seamaster Professional 300M (Goldeneye)

In 1995, Irish actor Pierce Brosnan starred in his first film as James Bond. Goldeneye brought a modern approach to the franchise and heralded in a new era. This made it the perfect film to debut Omega’s partnership. Bond wore the Omega Seamaster watch in the film, a model that is also used in every succeeding film albeit with an upgraded version. The Seamaster was chosen as Bond’s watch by costume designer Lindy Hemming due to his association with being a naval man and a diver.

As Omega’s longest-running product, it was originally designed for use in submarines. And used by the Special Boat Service during World War II. The Seamaster is commonly used by professional divers due to its many benefits. These include superb functionality, antimagnetic features and a helium escape valve. It wouldn’t be a Bond watch without some eccentric behaviours, which is why it included a laser and a built-in detonator – in the film at least!

#2 Omega Seamaster Professional 300M (Tomorrow Never Dies)

Due to the success of Goldeneye, Pierce Brosnan returned for the sequel which was released just two years later. In Tomorrow Never Dies, Bond must avert a war between Britain and China following a media mogul’s attempts to boost his ratings. Omega returned for its second outing as the official partner with a slightly updated version of the Seamaster Professional. This featured an automatic chronometer. In the film, the watch was used to donate a hand grenade. The same watch featured was used in The World is Not Enough a few years later, marking Brosnan’s penultimate appearance as bond.

#3 Omega Seamaster Professional 300M (Casino Royale)

Jump to 2006 and we’re ready for a new actor to don the famous tuxedo and take on the challenge of playing James Bond. Daniel Craig was selected to play the character in Casino Royale, a critically acclaimed film that rebooted the franchise. After receiving his 00 status, Bond sets out to bankrupt a mob banker and terrorist financier. For most of the film, he wore an automatic Seamaster Professional.

#4 Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (Skyfall)

Released in 2012, Skyfall became of the franchise’s highest-rated outings and broke film records, becoming the UK’s highest-grossing film. Skyfall was also the recipient of high praise from fans and critics. The Seamaster Planet Ocean watch was featured in the film’s opening scenes. The watch was powered by Omega’s co-axial mechanism and boasted a unique titanium case. It was later sold for €200,000 at the 50 Years of James Bond auction hosted by Christie’s.

#5 Omega Seamaster 300 (Spectre)

We last saw James Bond hit the big screen in 2015 with the release of Spectre. In the film, Bond must uncover the secrets of a sinister organisation. Spectre saw Bond wear the Seamaster 300 watch which featured a rare lollipop seconds hand and a NATO strap in black and grey. The watch was designed exclusively for the film and incorporated explosive features. We get the feeling the real thing isn’t quite as kitted out! During the film he could also be seen wearing the Aqua Terra with a blue dial, a call back to Omega’s and the franchise’s naval history.

#6 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition (No Time To Die)

So now we come to the big one. The latest film is due out in cinemas in just a few weeks! No Time To Die will be Daniel Craig’s last act as Bond, so we can expect plenty of drama, action and surprises. The watch that you will see in the film is the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition. Built with grade 2 titanium, Omega designed the watch with feedback from Craig and the filmmakers in mind so that they could craft a watch suitable for military requirements.

The watch is extremely lightweight, making it perfect for a military man like Bond where speed and mobility is crucial. If you want to buy the watch yourself, you’ll need a whopping £6,950! If you plan on seeing the film, keep an eye out for this watch as well as the Aqua Terra and De Ville Prestige as worn by the film’s other characters.
