*This is a collaborative post with Quidco Compare but all words and thoughts are my own
There are so many different types of insurance policies that you may need to take out. And that’s without broadband, energy, and loan options. Choosing the right one can save you lots of money.
I never accept renewal quotes without shopping around first. Sometimes the renewal quotes are good, but usually, there’s a better deal out there. And for some regular things like life or pet insurance, I just create an annual reminder. And then shop around to see if there are any better deals.
What I used to do was use a comparison site, find the best deal then head over to Quidco to make the purchase through them and hopefully get some cashback. Most recently I did this for our Petplan kitten insurance the day after we picked up our kittens. But now Quidco Compare exists I can cut down the steps to just one.
Quidco Compare is similar to other comparison sites that I’m sure you’ve all used at times. The site will help you compare prices to find the most competitive quote for things such as insurance policies, energy, broadband, and even loan deals.
But unlike other comparison sites where you just click purchase and that’s it with Quidco Compare you also get cashback on your purchase. So chances are you’ll save money on the product you’re buying and get a little extra. So no longer do you have to find a better deal then swap over to buy through Quidco, you can do it all in one go.
I’ve been using Quidco for cashback for years. But if you aren’t signed up to Quidco then use my link here and you’ll get a £5 bonus once you start tracking cashback.
Unlike car insurance or buildings insurance (if you have a mortgage), pet insurance isn’t something you have to have. But it’s something you really should! Pets become such a big part of your family and if something were to happen to them it could be expensive to pay for vets and treatments.
We knew that it was unlikely anything would happen to our kittens, especially as they won’t be going outside for a while. But we wanted the peace of mind that if anything was to happy to our fur babies we’d be covered. And not have to pay out hundreds, or thousands of pounds. I’ve heard some horror stories of people who have had to get their pets put down as they simply couldn’t afford the expensive surgeries and treatments needed to save them. The hope will be that you get pet insurance but never need to use it.
Much like any insurance policy, pet insurance can be expensive. So using Quidco Compare to get cat insurance (or any other pet insurance) is the best way to try and save some extra pennies. You can compare pet insurance quotes which start from just £3.01 per month and you can get up to £20 cashback.
To start off with you’ll need all of the details of your pet to get an insurance quote. You’ll need the animal’s breed, when it was born, how much you paid for it, and whether it’s been tagged. You’ll need to confirm their medical history such as vaccinations, whether they’ve been neutered, and any previous health conditions. All of these things can affect your quote. And if you don’t disclose something you should you might not get a payout if/ when you need it. For example, a young animal with no health conditions that have been vaccinated might be quite cheap to insure. But as pets get older or develop conditions it might be more expensive. This is because there’s a higher chance they may need treatment.
There’s a lot to think about when it comes to pet insurance including the type of cover you get. Cover types include:
If you get a quote through Quidco Compare in October for home or car insurance (or both) you’ll automatically be entered into a £1,000 prize draw. So you could save money on a better insurance deal, make some money on cashback, and be entered into the draw!

I never think to look at Quidco when looking at insurance, I am signed up and used to use them but somehow got out of the habit.
It is such a good habit to get into x
I agree, it is important for anyone with cats or dogs to get pet insurance. It’s good that Quidco offer a range of different ones. I’m not sure who my parents bought through for Roxi.

I have been thinking about getting pet insurance. Our cat is getting up there in age and I’d like to have her well visits covered as well as her needs as they arise, which I hope they don’t, but they very well could!
Get it as soon as you can as the younger she is the cheaper it will be x

I always compare prices for insurance before opting for one or to renew. I always want to make sure I am getting the best deal possible.
Same, a few pounds here and there all adds up x

Great suggestions! I haven’t even thought about pet insurance, but I’ll look into it more.
