*This is a collaborative post but my April 2022 overview post is all my own words
It makes me laugh a little looking back at the title of my March overview as ‘the start of Springtime’ as even now it doesn’t properly feel like Spring has kicked in even in April 2022.. Yes we’ve had slightly nicer weather, but not what I’d associate with this time of the year.
Easter itself was quite late this year, but I was very happy with the extra days off work as I’m sure everyone was. Especially as the bank holiday we’ve just had was just a few weeks later.
Since the very start of the year Luke has been working away for half the week. He’ll go away on a Monday morning and come home on Thursday evening. And it’s been tough the longer it’s gone on. This continued throughout April 2022, but as I write this Luke should be on his final week of working away *fingers crossed*
Blog wise I have been keeping busy. I’ve been starting to plan for Father’s Day with blog products for my guide. But also sorting out my own dads card and presents as it’s going to come around quick enough. If you want to be prepared and order a card now head over to Boomf.com
During the month I took the boys to their 6 monthly health check up and it was good to hear that they were all healthy. The nurse seemed to think they won’t grow much more which makes me happy as they’re small enough to pick up and cuddle. But I still think they’ll get a bit bigger.
Something very exciting to happen in April 2022 was that we got solar fitted to our house. In just two days the team managed to fit everything and get us up and running. I’m constantly looking at our smart metre or the app to see how much we’re generating. And we have arranged to get the battery very soon as well so we can store energy for when we need it during the night etc. I did a post on why we chose to get solar now, but there will be more coming up about it.
It’s been so nice as I’ve managed to see quite a few friends in April 2022, and eat some really good food.
My friend came round my house as she still hadn’t seen it, or met the cats. I also headed to my favourite Lebanese place with my best friend and a little group of girls which was lovely.
April 2022 saw my dads birthday and it was nice to see all the family together. Over Easter weekend I had an untraditional meal with my family where we ordered Nando’s because who needs a roast dinner?! And on Easter Sunday my friend was in the country after moving away a few months ago and it was great to see her again.
I managed to get to the cinema three times last month which was pretty good going. Me and Luke saw the new Fantastic Beasts movie which I really enjoyed. It does help that I’m a big Jude Law fan!
Then I went to see Morbius because I was intrigued after all the bad reviews. I get some of the bad reviews about the pacing and things not being explained. But at face value I thought it was alright. Then finally I took my nan to see the new Downton Abbey movie as she loves Downton. The movie was alright but I’ve never seen the show or previous movie before, but nan loved it which made me very happy.
As a belated birthday outing I took Luke to the Silverstone interactive museum over Easter weekend which was pretty great. We got to see loads of old racing cars and bikes, helmets, trophies and formula 1 car components. As we’re both big F1 fans this was a massive treat.
Before it finished in the West End me and my friend went to see Death Drop which is a drag murder mystery. Our showing featured the queen Latrice Royale and one of my favs from season 3 Kitty Scott Claus. The show was stupid and ridiculous, but I loved it.
With Luke being away I have watched quite a lot of TV in April 2022 including:
It’s almost hit the year mark before our 2023 wedding which is mad as we booked it last summer. We sorted out some of the decor and things this month which was good.
The big thing we ticked off in April 2022 was our flowers. We went to a local florist by our venue and have ordered my bouquet and all of the buttonholes/ corsages and they were really reasonably priced which I was very happy about. Later in May we’re going there to see a sample of them as the flowers will be in season like it will be for our actual wedding.

It sounds like you had a busy April, I thought the same with Bridgerton but have heard the Duke may be back in Season 3. It was my birthday over the Easter Weekend and my hubby cooked a lovely roast for us. Fingers crossed that Luke will not have to work away from now on.
Sounds like you’ve had a great April. I’m also a big fan of Selling Sunset, I havent started this latest season yet but looking forward to seeing what crazy drama happens this time round 🙂
It sounds like you’ve been keeping busy. I want to go see Morbius. I didn’t know the reviews were bad, might skip it and wait for it to come out on Sky in that case. Thanks for mentioning that x
I don’t think it’s still showing in too many places now. Worth a watch when it comes out though x
It hasn’t fully felt like spring yet here either as it’s been colder than average! Your cat is so cute 🙂
Sounds like April has been really good to you with the chance of seeing friends again and heading to the cinema. Good luck with your wedding planning, it all sounds really exciting
Great to hear your Spring update. This is the first time I’ve visited your site. My husband and I have just started our first ever renovation project. I’ll look forward to checking out your site and getting all the tips.
Sounds like you have been busy. I always love reading about what people have been watching for some inspiration. I know what you mean about all the socialising!
I feel like life has gotten back to normal this spring as well. So many things happened already, with three trips abroad and one in the UK, lots of exciting proejcts and many things to look forward to. It’s so good to be able to do things again and see people that you haven’t seen in such a long time.
Oh yeah from a UK perspective it does feel like normality x
Really enjoyed your update. Congrats on getting your solar panels installed. As you say, with energy prices going through the roof right now (no pun intended) they should pay for themselves even faster.
Good idea to get batteries installed as well. I looked into doing this a while ago (we had our panels installed 10 years ago) but it wasn’t financially viable then. I should probably look at it again now though!
We’re just waiting for them to come back with install dates for the battery as we don’t make enough selling back to the grid to cover what we have to use from the grid x
Sounds a great month!. I really want to see morbius but it’s now out the cinema now , always kick myself when I miss the screenings!.
I’m glad all your boys are healthy! It will be interesting to see how the solar panels work out for you, I have wondered about them, however as we rent I don’t think it would be allowed.
Oh yeah you don’t want to add value to someone else’s house x
