Holy Cr*p We’re In The Last Three Months Of The Year – September 2026 Overview

Gays the word bookstore

The fact that we’re already in October in mildly terrifying as it means Christmas is right around the corner. I’m usually super prepared and have done a load of shopping in September but this year I feel really behind. September 2026 has disappeared in a flash and I feel like I need to catch up.

That being said it was a great month with lots of fun stuff. But equally some not so great stuff as Scarlett was ill during the month. But she also has taken her first independent steps which is super exciting.

Things I got up to

I’ve seen quite a lot of friends this month including seeing some school friends at the start of the month. We’re the type of group who don’t see each other often but it doesn’t matter as we fall into things whenever we do. Then I headed down to Bournemouth for a day later in the month to catch up with some friends there.

It was my nieces first birthday in September so we had another first birthday party. It was lovely to family and friends ands let the kids pay.

As I have Friday’s off I’ve been making an effort to get out each week. So this month we went to Whipsnade with our annual passes, we went swimming one week and we did soft play another week which was lots of fun.

Then during the month I even had one full husband and baby free day. Scarlett was having a two night sleepover and Luke was away so I woke up to an empty house. It was both lovely, but also very strange. I managed to binge watch some TV, make some lego, read and do some house bits as well. So a great day.

Things I watched and read in September 2026

I only did one cinema trip in the month to see practical magic 2. It was everything I wanted and needed it to be, a bit cheesey but lots of spooky fun. Me and Luke did also head to an outdoor cinema to see the first Star Wars movie which was really fun.

I had two gigs within three days at the end of the month which was really good although tiring. I saw I Prevail at Alexandra Palace on the Friday night and the band were great although the venue was pretty empty. And then on the Sunday night I saw Don Broco in Watford. I hadn’t seen Don Broco live in a long time and I know zero of their new music, but they were so good. I had such a great time and instantly listened to their latest album on the quick drive home.

All things books

I had two really fun book events during September. At the start of the month I went to see Katy Brent who is a contemporary mystery(ish) writer. I love her books as they’re super fast paced and a really fun time and the event was exactly that.

Later in the month me and a friend headed to Bath for the event of one of our favourite authors; Rachel Gillig. We had a lovely afternoon in bath grabbing lunch, visiting bookstores and just wandering. Then the event was fab, and the journey wasn’t even that bad.

Then one of my favourite days of the month happened near the end which was an in person meet up with some book club friends. I’ve been part of Amy’s Book Club for about 3 or 4 years now and love chatting with the lovely ladies. And Amy organised an in person event so I was lucky to meet and chat with 10 other wonderful people. We got to chat about books and everything else, have tea and scones and do a bit of book shopping.

My favourite books of the month

I didn’t read too much but the books I did read were almost all excellent. My favourites were:

House updates

After doing our bedroom renovation part 1 over August bank holiday weekend we had a few finishing touches to do, and some extra furniture to get. But that’s all finished now until next year.

We had our house survey done ready for the technical drawings for our extension next year. I’m just waiting for these before we can go out to builders and get some quotes.

We also had a proper electric car charger installed which means it can charge so much quicker. I’m so happy we don’t have to fill up with fuel so often now.

What did you get up to in September 2026?
