Lots of Final Things Ready For Life To Change- May 2025 Overview

June 3, 2025
Baby shower with all my friends and family

May 2025 has been both a great month, but also a very strange month. I’ve had a lot of final things, like final events and big things before baby arrives. I’ve also had my final day at work pre-baby. And it all feels a bit surreal. I don’t know if it’s still fully set in that our baby girl could arrive at any point now. But we’ll see how much of my maternity leave I get before she makes an appearance.

What I got up to in May 2025

I spent a lot of my month trying to see as many people as possible while it’s still comfortable to be out and about. I had a few meals/ evenings out seeing loads of different friends which was great. We even managed a quick meet up between a few from our NCT group before more babies start arriving which was so lovely.

In the middle of the month me and Luke made a trip down to Bournemouth for a work outing. We got to see some friends, eat some nice food and enjoy some lovely weather. Plus it was an excuse to get dressed up a bit.

The weekend after was my baby shower with a collection of family and friends. I was quite an emotional and overwhelming day, but again incredible to see so many of the people I love in one space.

Sherika's wedding

Then the biggest part of the month was a school friends wedding over bank holiday weekend. We had the mendhi on the Thursday where I got my henna done and enjoyed catching up with friends. Then Saturday was the big event and it was so special seeing her and her new husband so happy, and being surrounded by all that love. Personally it came at the perfect time as I got to see so many people before the next part of my life begins.

Things I watched and read

I don’t feel like I’ve watched as much this month, but we have very much been enjoying the F1. May meant it was eurovision month and I blooming love the spectacle of it all, even if everyone’s always out to hate us. Espresso Macciato and the sauna song have been stuck in my head ever since, iykyk!

TV wise I’ve started watching You and can’t wait to see how the final season concludes. Me and Luke have started the newest season of Taskmaster and it’s blooming brilliant. I love the whole cast so much, and it’s such a fun watch each week.

Cinema wise I saw two movies, and May 2025 could be the last time I get there in a while! At the start of the month me and Luke headed to see Thunderbolts which I really enjoyed, far more than I thought I would. And then later in the month me and a friend went to see Lilo and Stitch which again I really enjoyed. I forgot how emotional the movie is, especially as it gets nearer the end. Although maybe that’s just baby hormones.

My favourite books of 2025

I’ve not read as much as usual during the month because I’ve had a lot going on, but some of the best things I’ve read are:

Things I’ve been loving in May 2025

The biggest one is our log cabin. While I’ve been going out there to work out (and won’t for a while) I love the space. I’ve got way more storage space, and a proper spot for taking photos. And I really love that Luke now has a proper gaming space to enjoy as well.

We were lucky enough to be sent an outdoor bean bag chair* from Great Bean Bags which is so comfy. We’ve had some really nice weather so I’ve been able to put it to the test (and the cats have loved it while it’s been inside). They’re made from soft, shower-proof and UV resistant weaved polyester material. Which means you can use it indoor and outdoor, and I can’t wait for when nugget is here as it may give me the chance to sit and feed her outdoors sometimes, and the bean bag chair will give us a super relaxed position to do that in.

ellow daisy warmie

During the month I’ve been starting to get some cramps (baby is making herself known!) And thankfully this beautiful warmies yellow flower pot* (£24.99) arrived at the perfect time. It’s a microwaveable heatable soft toy which has a calming lavender scent, and is great for discomfort. Plus I can make it warm enough but not too warm for me at the moment. But the thing I really love about it is how cute it looks. I have the yellow flower pot with it’s yellow petals and smiling face, and it gives me the same vibes as Jellycat does! There’s also a blue and orange version, and an adorable bumble bee!
