Valentines Gifts From Grindstore- For Those Who Aren’t Soppy

February 11, 2020

*The items within this post were gifted from Grindstore
in exchange for this post. But all words and opinions are my own

Normally I find January drags but this year it’s gone by in a blink of an eye. And how are we almost halfway through February already?! When the hell did that happen? It feels like time is moving at a crazy speed. But as it’s February it means it’s Valentines Day.

Me and Luke have always loved to go out for a nice meal for Valentines Day. Although this year with the house move looming we’re going to go for something a bit more low key. We’ve never really done presents as my birthday is in January and Luke’s is in March. So there’s a lot going on around it.

But thankfully Grindstore stepped in and offered to send me some goodies to show that Valentines gifting doesn’t have to be full of hearts and giant teddy bears.

I’ve been using Grindstore for as long as I can remember. When I was a teenager it was the destination for all of my ’emo’ accessories and the skinniest of skinny jeans. I’d stock up on band T-shirts to show my love for the heavier side of life. And in all honesty, nothing has really changed.

poly juice potion Harry Potter mug

The first thing I got was this Spiritual Incense Gift Pack* (£5.99) as I’ve actually never tried incense sticks before. I’m a huge candle and aroma diffuser fan so I thought I’d pick these up to try. The illustrations on the packages are absolutely beautiful with dragons and goddesses’ so I can’t wait to give these a burn. Candles tend to be a quite popular Valentines Day gift but incense is a nice alternative.

One of the things I love about Grindstore is that they have they sell a lot of official merch for bands, movies and brands. This Harry Potter cauldron double handled mug* (£8.99) would make a great gift for anyone who loves Harry Potter. I love the idea of a double-handled mug so you can keep your hands warm and toasty while drinking your hot/ coffee/ hot chocolate etc. It’s a really nice design and quite unusual, unlike anything I’ve seen before.

be the strange you wish to see in the world tote bag

If you know me you know I love a good tote bag. I have a massive wad of them in the boot of my car so I don’t forget them when I go shopping. And they live in every bag and place I can think of. So I’m always happy to get a new one and this black one is right up my street. It says ‘Be the strange you wish to see in the world’* (£4.99) which is such a great quote.

The actual quality of the bag is really nice and the design is just beautiful. And who doesn’t want to get a gift which looks cool but is also practical?! I know I’m definitely an adult when practical purchases get me excited!

This one will be coming shopping with me every week. Guaranteed.

my chemical romance top

Now with My Chemical Romance coming back into our lives, it seemed like the perfect time to get a band t-shirt. I’m spending most days counting down until their show in June. And it can’t come around quick enough!

This My Chemical Romance T-Shirt* (£14.99) is actually a men’s design, but who really cares about that?! It stands out with the bright design but it’s not too in your face. The cotton it’s made from is pretty soft and for a band t-shirt, it feels like really good quality. Valentines Day should be all about getting something special which means a lot and an MCR top does just that!

black rose print

The final thing I got was this Jet Black Rose Gloss Poster in a Frame* (£9.99). Firstly this is such great value considering you get both the poster and frame for under £10. So it really shows you don’t need to spend a lot to get something great. This a real spin on a more traditional Valentines day gift.

I’ve been picking up little things for the new house which could work in my office downstairs or my office continuation upstairs. And this will make a great fit as I love the monochrome design.

Do you give Valentine’s presents? Or would you be more likely to treat yourself?
