Winter Sunshine Fashion Essentials
Now that my last holiday of the year is over *sheds a tear* it has got me thinking towards the warmer weather and going away. I know there’s not a lot of sunshine in the UK at the moment but there’s plenty of places not too far away where you can still get some sunshine such as Southern Italy, Morocco, Cape Verde and Lanzarote to name just a few. Having just come back from Italy I know how nice it was being able to wear skirts without tights and donning some swimwear to head to the pool and spa. Here are some winter sunshine essentials that you’ll need if you’re heading away.
Swimming Costume
Now, this isn’t just a sunshine necessity, I need a new costume myself as I do aqua aerobics every week but I never realized how tough it is finding nice swimwear outside of the summer season. There are very few shops which still stock them but only retailers like Simply Beach offer loads of swimsuits which are perfect for some Winter Sunshine or just a swim in your local pool. I personally prefer swimsuits which have maximum coverage such as a longline swimming costume or a playsuit as I feel more comfortable in them but if I had the confidence for it I’d don a bikini in no time.
Jersey Dress
For me, the winter months are all about celebrations and the festivities so even if you’re on holiday enjoying the sunshine keep a bit of Christmas with you with this Jersey Dress from Esprit. I find Jersey dresses the most versatile thing to take away as you can dress them up with heels and a massive necklace but you can also dress them down with boots and a leather jacket. This dress has all-over glitter with short sleeves so it’s absolutely perfect in the warmer weather to rock on a night out, but you can also add a pair of leggings if it gets a little bit cooler.
Kaftan
I don’t know if it’s just me but there’s always a bit of a worry about what to wear as a cover-up when you’re heading to the beach or the pool but for me, kaftans are the way forward. They’re generally lightweight, easy to wear and you can just pop it on over the top of your swimwear without feeling you’re overdressed. I took a beautiful one from Miss Tunica* to Rome and wore it over my swimsuit when I headed down to the spa so I wasn’t wondering the hotel hallways feeling undressed. The kaftan itself was lightweight, wasn’t bulky and was really easy to take on and off in the spa.

I love that Jersey dress. Perfect for a festive getaway. I always find it hard to shop for winter sun so try stock up before the shop racks are full of winter woollies x

I need some winter sunshine! I love winter but I do miss sunny days and simpler clothes.
It is so hard to find clothes for a holiday at this time of the year, I have just come back from Disneyland Paris and even finding a swimsuit was hard enough x
I have to admit, I’m not a fan of summer or summer clothes. I can never wait for knitwear season – my absolute favourite! Hope you had a great holiday though.

My boy has just started doing hydrotherapy at his SEN school and I’m struggling to find his a swimming costume for him, I never realised it would be such a struggle to find holiday clothes in winter. Thanks god for online shopping
It is so tricky to get holiday wear in the winter so I try and plan ahead and buy it in the sales around Sept time 🙂

I’ve just come back from two trips to the Caribbean over the last five weeks and trying to find summer clothes in the UK for those trips was nigh on impossible! Love that kaftan though, I want one!
That black and gold kaftan that you have on is beautiful and I love simply Beach too. I have a floral swimsuit from them and its longline and much more comfortable than a bikini for me. E Spirit has some great clothing too x

I’ve just been shopping for our winter sun holiday and have found some really great sale bits in Fat Face. I am struggling to find a nice beach cover up though.
Jersey Dresses are the best so, comfy but still a little bit feminine!
