Five Essentials Which Have Helped My Pre-Work Gym Sessions

Swish

Just over a month ago I started a brand new job and it’s been quite a change in terms of my day to day schedule as in my old job I was only a few minutes walk away so I didn’t have to think about being out all day as I came home at lunchtime. But in my new job I’m trying to get into some good habits such as leaving early and going to the work gym before my day starts.

I have to admit I do feel like I take a lot of stuff with me when I’m going to work like my handbag, lunch, gym stuff and laptop, but that seems fairly common with the rest of the workforce which makes me feel better. There’s some products though which have been making my pre-work gym sessions that little easier or nicer.

As I’m trying to go to the gym every single day I wash my teeth before I go to work but this can be at about 6.30-7am so I’ve been taking these Swish To Go* sachets to work to freshen up once I’m showered and dressed. The sachets are great as they take just a few seconds to freshen your breath and you don’t need water. As soon as you put the powder in your mouth it turns into liquid that you just swish around for about 10 seconds before swallowing for cleaner, healthier and fresher teeth. As they’re so practical and you can swallow the solution I know these are also going to be so handy for travelling.

marley wireless headphones with a solid band to stay comfortable

Of course, no gym session would be complete without music, but would you believe for the first 2 weeks I didn’t take a pair of headphones with me?! Thankfully the Smile Jamaica Wireless* earphones from Marley have been an absolute godsend. I don’t like having wired earphones in the gym as each machine is different and sometimes the wire from my phone could stretch but these are really easy to use with a massive 8 hours of playtime so even if I use them outside of the gym they tend to last all week. They have a comfortable neckband which means even when I’m moving more on the treadmill they’ve not fallen out, unlike my other earphones which seem to fall out all the time.

Nivea deoderant

No post gym session would be complete without deodorant and since Nivea relaunched it’s female deodorant range it’s all I have been using. Dry Confidence* is one of the anti-persprants which offers 48 hour protection, something which is much needed after a gym session as I find even when I’ve showered I don’t always feel my freshest (especially if it’s been an intense session). The deodorant isn’t heavily scented which I love as it’s just fresh and perfect as the weather is getting warmer.

The bottle has a twist and lock feature which is a god send in my gym bag when things move around and it has a slightly different shape to traditional deodorants making it easy to spray from any angle including under clothing. I’m sure we all know the struggle of showering, getting ready and then suddenly realising you could do with a spritz more deodorant when you’re fully dressed, this is no longer an issue with the new Nivea bottles.

Hyasoft moisturising cream which is handbag sized and perfect for using after the gym

As I’m going to the gym most days I find that my skin always needs that extra bit of hydration as I lose some during my workout so having a moisture boost when I’m out of the shower and dressed is essential.  Hyasoft* is fast-absorbing moisture boost which works perfectly after the gym as it’s oil-free and usually my face is oily enough after working out. It’s a small 30ml tube so it doesn’t add too much bulk to my gym bag and it’s perfectly sized to fit in my handbag. Whenever I use it it hydrates my skin but also gives it a slight glow.

When I’ve finally got to my desk and the day starts I have to think about hydration in the form of drinks and in my old job I had the bad habit of having too many fizzy drinks which was something I wanted to get out of. I bought a beautiful Kikki K glass water bottle with rose gold detailing which holds a whole litre of water and is the perfect size to keep on my desk and help me stay hydrated. I’m trying to drink one full bottle each morning and afternoon and I am doing pretty well so far.

These sound like some great essentials. I’ve not heard of swish to go before, but I am thinking I might have to go and try some out, they sound useful for keeping in your handbag.

The Swish sounds really good. I’ll have to look to see if they have any in my local Boots. The deodorant sound pretty good too.

Like the sound of the Swish To Go sachets – never heard of those! Well done with keeping up your water intake – I’m useless & always drink fizzy :/ x

When I’m teaching it’s a water bottle. When I’m out and about it’s my phone as I can pretty much work off that and when I’m working from home it’s my playlists. x

Sounds like you’ve got a great routine! I used to go to the gym on my lunch pre-kids. Now I only get to go in the evenings after Dad gets back from work!

Just the right stuff for your gym bag. I think the Nivea Dry Confidence is great. I always love deodorants which are not heavily scented. Heavily scented ones give me headache.

Oh that sounds great! I haven’t seen the Nivea Dry Confidence, I definitely need to check that one out!

Fab essentials, I’ve got to say, ive never heard of swish before but what a great product to have on you for when you’ve finished the gym or in any situation you need a mouth refresh. Going to have to get some of these for long days filming that I have coming up.

The Swish to Go Sachets sound amazing! I very often get half way through my day and wish I could quickly brush my teeth. I hate how they feel after a couple of cups of tea and a snack! I think they’d be the perfect thing to have on hand to help with that 🙂
