At the moment it seems that plus-sized brands are really pulling out all the stops to create some great pieces of clothing and as someone on the larger size I am loving having the choice of clothing. Simply Be are one of those companies who cover a whole range of sizes including right up to the upper end of plus size which makes it a great place to shop.
One thing I’ve been buying a lot of lately is dresses because of the nicer weather and it’s definitely something that my wardrobe does lack. One thing I have found in recent months is that I am becoming far less worried about colour and do have a number of dresses which are quite bright and colourful for me.
A dress is a way to make a statement. It can help you express yourself and make an impression on those around you. If you want to impress others in comfort and show off your style, a midi dress is an appropriate choice. There are many cool and comfortable dress designs from which you can pick. One of them is the midi style. With a midi dress, which hangs to the approximate halfway mark of your lower leg, your body becomes like a canvas. You can use it as a base by selecting a solid colour you can accessorize. You can also make a statement with the dress itself by choosing one with a unique pattern or embellishments, such as a sash at the waist. Whatever choice you make, a midi dress can serve you well throughout the year, except during particularly cold winter weather.
Here are some of the dresses from Simplybe.co.uk which I have on my wishlist, although looking at my choices I’m starting to think I should have called it my wrap dress wishlist.
I am a huge fan of wrap dresses as they suit my shape so much more and I think for anyone who has quite a large top half they can be a great fit. This green floral wrap dress is so pretty as it’s not too in your face bright but it’s a nice pop of colour. It’s in a skater style so it’s a really flattering length as well.
I’ve been finding midi dresses so practical as they’re long enough that you can wear them to work without feeling like you’re dressed up for a night out, but they’re also dressy enough to wear to an occasion like a wedding or a meal out. This one from the brand Neon Rose again is a wrap design (noticing a theme yet?!) but it has a fitted waist as opposed to a loser fitted. I love the short sleeves as I don’t tend to have the tops of my arms out and the length of these would prevent me from having to wear a cardigan.
I am totally on board with the polka dot trend at the moment and have pretty much every possible type of clothing in polka print somewhere. I am also a huge fan of dipped back dresses as I think they’re really flattering and as I have a larger bum I always worry dresses/ skirts will be too short in the back anyway so this eliminates that issue. The black and white colouring means it will go with anything so you can add a pop of colour with your shoes, a bag or just your make up. And yes it’s a wrap dress style again.
Whenever I buy dresses I always look for ones which can be layered up in the colder months so I get more wear out of them and this Unique 21 Mixed Spot Wrap Dress would be great for that as it’s got long sleeves so it would be cosy for an Autumnal night. The dress is everything I love again being both polka dot and a wrap dress (surprise surprise), but it’s a bit more unusual with the alternating size of the polka dots which is quite unusual. I love the V-neckline on the wrap as it’s super flattering and the tie waist means it can be clinched in a little if needed.
