Four Reasons Why I’d Love To Go On A Cruise

This is a collaborative post but all thoughts and opinions are my own

I’ve mentioned cruises a few times on my travel bucket list posts but never really delved into exactly why I’d love to go on one which is what I thought I’d do within this post. Up until a few years ago I wouldn’t have even thought about going on a cruise as the idea of sleeping on a boat just didn’t appeal to me but Luke’s parents have been on a few and it’s definitely swayed me.

We did debate about going on a cruise for Luke’s 30th but prices swayed us to choose otherwise. Here are just four of the reasons why I’d love to go on a cruise and why I think a cruise is a great holiday choice.

Why I’d love to go on a cruise: Cruise boats are like cities of their own

Just looking at the layout of a cruise boat and how much there is to do is a holiday in itself. You can go to the spa, go swimming, do activity classes, watch a movie, play in a casino, eat in numerous restaurants, go rock climbing and so much more all on a boat. Okay I say a boat but these buggers are huge so it’s like a floating city and I do like this idea as you get to experience so much in one space.

Why I’d love to go on a cruise: There’s a real sense of community

Everyone that you’re with on the cruise (even though there might be thousands) is part of a small social community with you and you’re all on the same journey (pardon the pun!) I know people who have been on cruises and got to know the people on the bars, in the restaurants or those who like to have a morning swim at the same time as them. Unlike a normal holiday where you may see someone once and never again these are people you’ll see day in day out so you can create friendships. I might have thought to go on a singles cruise holiday before I met Luke but now it would be more of a couples cruise that we’d go on.

Why I’d love to go on a cruise: You go to sleep in one place and wake up somewhere new

I love going to multiple places on a trip but the travel time is what usually puts me off as you don’t want to spend half of your holiday jumping on flights, trains or buses to different parts of a country. But the great thing about a cruise is the travelling is mainly done at nighttime, so you get on the boat in the evening and while you’re relaxing in your room, having a pre-bed cocktail or sleeping that’s when the boat takes you to your next location. Imagine waking up and you’re in a totally different country, I love this idea.  As you get to see so much in one go it would give me a good chance to brush up on some language skills as I love eat least knowing please, thank you and hello in the language of where I’m going although I’d love to learn more with Language Trainers. If we visited 5 or 6 different countries that’s a lot to learn!

Why I’d love to go on a cruise: You can visit loads of countries in one go

Yes you may not get to truly experience a country or location as you only have a day there but you’ll get a nice taster of what that place is like so you can decide if you’d like to go back. There are lots of European cruises which let you take in 6 or 7 countries and sometimes more which is a great way to get tasters of the countries. I would also love to do a Caribbean island cruise one day but as you have to pick up the boat from the East Coast of America there’s the extra cost of flying there.

Have you ever been on or considered a cruise?

I love the idea of travelling in luxury and not having to pack and unpack when moving between different locations unlike our honeymoon when we toured Europe and never really got to ‘settle in’!

I think I could find 20 reasons why I’d like to take a cruise. I never have as yet but I am determined I will, one day. Mich x

I would love to go on a cruise too! It’s such a fab way to see the world and the ships themselves look insane!! I’d even be happy just to stay on nice and never leave port, haha!

I’ve never been on a cruise but I’ve always wanted to go on one. Steve’s cousin worked on one for a while and tells so many fab stories.

I think the most appealing aspect of a cruise is to see a load of different countries in one holiday. They do seem like there is a lot of experiences that you get on the cruise as well

I went on a cruise about 5 years ago – we’re a family of 6 though now so can’t afford it as we would have to buy 2 cabins. Maybe I should just leave the kids at home :p

I’d love to go on a cruise, I’m a little nervous about being in the middle of nowhere but it sounds like such an experience and you can travel to so many places without carrying your luggage haha!

I have never tried cruising but I’m so intrigued to do it one day! It seems such a cultured way of travelling.
