Three Ways I Have Pushed My Pinterest Impressions

Out of all the social media channels out there Pinterest holds the most potential when it comes to increasing your blogs page views and it starts with increasing your Pinterest impressions. Now I’m not saying by increasing your impressions you’ll instantly see page views as it’s a start, the more people who see your pins the more chance you have of someone clicking it.

My impressions are by no means amazing but I have managed to increase them a lot over the past 6 months, over November and December they were constantly around 200,000 monthly unique viewers. Sadly it seems to have fallen to closer to 120,000 now but it’s still better than it was last summer. Here are just some of the things I’ve been doing to help my impressions.

Scheduling pins through Tailwind

I have been using Tailwind for about 14 months now and I do find it great for helping to keep my pinning consistent. Before I used this my Pinterest was so hit and miss some days I’d pin and then I’d go a week without which wasn’t great. Tailwind allows you to schedule your pins and shuffle them up so I spend about 45 minutes once a week scheduling up my week ahead and then I know that there’s always going to be new content going live.

My tailwind plan means that I pin a minimum of 25 times a day staggered which means roughly every single hour I am pinning, this covers for different audiences around the world and means everything is consistent.

Tailwind

Pinning 75% my own pins and 25% of others

I don’t think there are any hard and fast rules about this, but at the end of the day I don’t want great impressions but no one seeing or interacting with content I have created so the plan which works for me is for every 4 pieces of content which I pin, 3 are mine and 1 is someone else’s that I love. Each week I’ll pin any new posts multiple times to all the different boards it fits to and then I’ll go back and re-pin some evergreen content either that has performed well or if it’s seasonal and relevant again I’ll schedule this. Then I’ll go onto Pinterest and select some items from my homepage which have been suggested and I love, I may do some searches for things I love or I’ll make use of collaborative boards and pin fellow bloggers work.

If i want to pin more of others stuff if I’m perhaps planning a trip or doing some home decor inspiration I can do that on the spot and it doesn’t need to be scheduled.

Joining some Pinterest collaboration boards and scheduling pins there

I am part of two collaborative boards with other blogging groups and when I schedule pins to my own Pinterest I also schedule pins to the group boards I am part of. This means the content is drip fed into their boards and not put in all at once but it gives my content a better reach. For this I will only pin content once as when you’re part of a larger group I don’t want to over-saturate groups. This is probably one of the biggest changes I’ve made in the past 3-4 months and I have seen positive changes from this, it could be coincidence but if people see your pin in bigger groups then your impressions are naturally going to go up because of it.

My biggest challenge to work on…..

When I first started I had a pin template created for me by someone who helped me set up my account and while it was great at the start to build up consistancy around my posts I do feel that I have outgrown it. I recently created a new version which I am really happy with but I’d love to go back throuhg and change all of my previous pinned images to the new format and re-pin them. To do this I am going to need to create some spreadsheets of my posts and do this on an on-going basis as it’s not a quick task. For this I’ll grab some Tabbed Dividers from Showcase Creative and get planing my long term task.

I think Pinterest is going to be one of those platforms that I cannot crack. Everyone else seems to get so much traffic from it, whereas, I don’t! It’s amazing what you have done though, keep it up!!

I’m still learning a lot when it comes to Pinterest but I do love tailwind for scheduling pins when I actually remember to do it. I think it can be a great platform when you get the hang of it.

I was just reading today that Pinterest is favouring new pins and they are encouraging us to create new images/ keywords, descriptions to add to old blog posts ad to re-pin them again. There is a lot of work to be done! Mich x

I love Pinterest but I’ve recently noticed that scheduling via Tailwind doesn’t work as well as it used to. I think this is probably because more and more people have jumped on the bandwagon! These days I find that pinning manually as and when I can works better for me. But I think everyone is different and what works for you is most definitely the way to go šŸ™‚
