Going into London can be expensive. Going into London to visit attractions can be very expensive. I am very much an advocate of attraction tickets and have done them in New York, Edinburgh and Copenhagen. You can get combination tickets in advance for a whole host of attractions. And they can be great value for money attraction tickets as well.
This helps to not only save money which is very important to me. But it can also avoid you having to queue to buy tickets which can be long, especially during the summer. Here are five great value for money London sightseeing tours and packages. Each attraction comes with a City Cruises ticket to take a cruise along the Thames which I finally did last year. It was so nice to see the city from another perspective.
One of the best places to get a great view of the city is from the viewing platform in The Shard. This is Europe’s tallest building and the glass building rises above the London skyline. I always find when I go abroad I’ll go and see the city from whatever the best viewpoint is. And for London this is one of the best!
When I first went a few years back we were blessed with beautiful weather and could see for miles. With views all over the city it’s stunning and combi tickets with a City Cruise start from £36.80.
Can you believe I only visited the Tower of London for the first time in 2017?! It only took me 27 years to visit one of the jewels in London. The Tower of London is one of Europe’s oldest palaces and prisons. And you can’t miss it on the banks of the River Thames.
There are so many impressive buildings to explore, but I’d recommend get a Yeomen Tour as they’re able to give you so much history. And it makes your great value for money attraction tickets, even better value! The castle is over 1,000 years old and you can even take a peek at the Crown Jewels in there. What’s even better is the City Cruise departs from just outside so you don’t need to travel far. Tickets for this combination start at £37.70.
I am not a fan of things which make me jump which is why I was apprehensive about the London Dungeons. While I did jump and perhaps scream slightly it was a great experience for both adults and young adults.
There are 18 exhibits and 2 rides which take you through 1,000 years of London’s bloodier history. Combination cruise and dungeon tickets are £38.40.
The Greenwich Royal Observatory is one of those places that had been on my to visit list for ages. And I was seriously impressed when we made it there. There is so much to see here including the Planetarium which was a highlight for me. The actual observatory and the official Meridian Line to show Greenwich Mean Time.
The views across Greenwich from atop the Observatory are something special as well. You can spend quite a lot of your day here and not get bored. And combination tickets with a cruise and tickets here cost just £28.80 which is great value for money attraction tickets.
Going to see an actual show at the Globe is still on my London bucket list. But I have managed to do the guided tour which was fascinating. The Globe has the world’s most comprehensive exhibition about Shakespeare which you can view at your leisure. Then jump on your guided tour around the recreated theatre.
If you fancy a more cultured day in London your cruise combination tickets only work out at £31.40.
There are loads more attractions that you can save money on by booking in advance so check out City Cruises to see what takes your fancy.

I really want to visit the Dungeons one day, I might take my eldest!
I’ve never done any of these attractions before, but I really want to next time I’m in the city. I’ll start with the Shard. 🙂
I’ve been to the Shard a couple of times – the views are amazing, but I’ve never been to the Royal Observatory, I might have to add that to my summer bucket list x
We visited Greenwich for the first time last year and loved it. So much history to discover, the children thought it was fantastic
I love a city cruise. And it is brilliant value to combine them with another attraction. The Royal Observatory is one of my favourite places to visit. Greenwich is beautiful. Hugs Lucy xxxx
You’re so right Greenwich is stunning! I need to explore it more x
I would love to visit the London Dungeons and also the old prison. I have never been to London and have always wanted to go
I’d love to do all of these, I’ve not done any, I bet the view from the shard is incredible
Great ideas! I really want to take my kids to London this year as my son really wants to see Buckingham palace! I think he would love to dungeons too though. A guided tour also sounds fab to see and discover more of the city with a handy guide!
You learn so much more from guided tours which makes a huge difference, it makes walking around that bit more interesting x
I absolutely love the dungeons in London. I came away learning quite a bit too xxx
my parents are coming to visit for the first time next year and will want to visit London – great ideas here so will definitely revisit nearer the time x
I haven’t actually done any of these. I have been meaning to go to the Tower of London for ages and I’d like go up the Shard too.
