*I was provided with some items of clothing in exchange for a feature on my blog.
But all thoughts and opinions are my own
I remember the first time I fell in love with Joanie and it was when I spotted someone wearing their Brunch t-shirt. As brunch is officially the best meal of the day I was drawn into the brand. So I bought the top straight away.
If you’re not too familiar with Joanie Clothing then they’re a quirky clothing company which have a splash of nostalgia. A lot of their styles and clothing is reminiscent of the 50’s/60’s which I love. The brand stock clothing in sizes from 8-22 meaning there’s greater availability for more people to shop. I have to admit I’m on the top end of that scale but I don’t care about the number. Joanie says “We are inclusive, not exclusive and celebrate individuals who know their own style”. This is reflective in their clothing you can see all over their website.
The brand has a mid-season sale on at the moment and I was lucky enough to pick up a few items from the sale.
The first item I picked up was this blue and black stripe button-up dress*. I seem to be getting into dresses a lot more lately. The thing which stands out on this dress is the sizing. The length of the dress is summer perfection meaning it’s short enough to be cool. But long enough that you don’t need to wear tights or leggings every time.
The sleeve length is another big thumbs up from me. As someone who doesn’t like her upper arms, it can be hard to find things which I’m happy to wear without a jacket. But these are long enough to cover up the bits I don’t like about myself. But short enough that it’s a summery item. It’s a dress which makes me feel happy wearing and confident enough to go out in. And any clothing which helps make us feel good about ourselves is a plus.
The stripes are beautiful colours (and you can get it in green too.) And if you can believe it the dress has pockets! Not enough dresses have pockets in my opinion. They’re not really big enough to put much in. But I like the option that when I don’t know what to do with my hands, I can put my hands in my pocket.
The next item I picked up from Joanie was a pair of lightweight stripe culottes* in the same stripe pattern as the dress. I decided to switch it up a bit and went for the green colour this time which is absolutely stunning. Green isn’t a colour I have a lot of in my wardrobe but it’s a colour which I love so I need to change that.
Doing the zip up was a little tricky to do up as it has to go over some stitching but once they’re on these fit like a dream. I did have to size up to what I usually go for with trousers so bear that in mind. But when I wore them I was feeling really comfortable. The actual material is really lightweight and with the current weather not quite sure if it’s summer or not they’re a blessing. They fold up really small so if you’re heading away they’d be an addition. And won’t take up much space in your backpack/ suitcase.
I usually to veer away from wide legs culottes as I was always worried that they’d make me look even bigger. But these are actually quite flattering over my stomach and at the end of the day, I need to stop worrying about what I look like in clothes. As long as I like them and they’re comfortable that’s all that matters.

The dress and culottes both look terrific on you. I haven’t seen culottes here in a while, my Mom has always loved wearing them.
Thank you! x
I really like the dress, though I don’t think it would suit me, but I love how it sits on you x
I browse Joanie at least once a week but have never treated myself. I love their slogan tops
Their slogan tops are great, I might need to treat myself again soon x
Culottes are so in this summer! I just treated myself to some (Admittedly from Asda) but yours are really nice
Though I am not familiar with the brand, I am loving that stripe dress, the colour and simple design makes even cuter.
The striped culottes are super cool! I really like them and you rock them 🙂 x
I’m a big fan of stripes and love the different colour combinations on the cdresses and culottes x
I discovered Joanie clothing last year and love all the cute prints they do. It’s one of my sister’s favourite places to shop.
I have a cat print dress from their which is so cute! Every time I go on their website I have to hold myself back from spending a small fortune.
I must admit, I haven’t heard of this brand before but the dress looks lovely on you. I will check out the website for sure
I have not heard of this brand before but I love the dress and culottes
Wow, I really love those trousers. I’ve seen Joanie advertised but never got around to ordering. X
You’ve picked some gorgeous items there but I have to say, I’m loving the ‘Not Today’ tee the most, haha!
