As someone who has lived on the outskirts of London her whole life, I love to spend time in the big city. Be it trying new restaurants or food markets or going on organised tours in London depending on the weather. I feel so lucky and privilidged to live in such an amazing city. I’ve been doing loads of London bucket lists, but there’s always more and more to add. Over the past month, I’ve been on three different tours in London thanks to Klook which have helped me fall even more in love with the city. As if that was possible.
At the end of February, me and my dad headed up to Shoreditch at 11am on a Sunday morning ready to try a host of treats around the Shoreditch area. As a massive foodie, I love trying new things, even if I’m not all that experimental. The tour took us around six different spots to try some food (and drink). It began at Beigel Bake on Brick Lane where we had a salt beef beigel and it was an impressive start. From here we chose some chocolates from Dead Sugar, had fish and chips in Poppies (that somehow I’d never been to), eat an Indian snack from Spitalfields market, tried pale ale from Old Blue Last and had an amazing dessert from a restaurant I can’t remember the name of.
We were pretty lucky to have a private tour which meant we chatted as we went along so the tour wasn’t as long as the 3 hours it would normally have been. But it reiterated to me how amazing the food is around London. And introduced me to some lovely places that I’ll definitely be going back to.
On St Davids Day me and my bestie headed into London for a 3.5 hour classic rock tour of London. This one was done via minibus as we covered a lot of ground checking out places around London with connections to classic rock. This included Abbey Road, Paul McCartneys house, Garden Lodge that Freddie Mercury bought, but also the house he actually lived in. There were places to do with Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, The Who and so much more.
The best thing about the tour was actually our guide who was insanely knowledgable about so many rock (and non rock) bands. He remembered exact dates and even though the route of the drive changed he always had new facts. There were studios, clubs, gig sites, homes and former homes of stars to look at and it was such an interesting tour.
To round off my trio of London tours I did the underground walking tour. Having spent many a time on the London Underground I was familiar with stops and how to use it. But I definitely take it for granted and don’t stop to admire how great it is. This tour started at Baker Street and took us around five or so different stops to talk about the transport network which was the first of it’s kind back in the 1800’s.
We headed to one of the unused ‘ghost’ stations which has been abandoned for over half a century. We looked at what the tube map used to look like and how the one we see day in day out came to be. And so much more. Our guide was really informative and I learnt a lot of stuff on this tour.

The Shoreditch Food Tour is great. And I love visiting Dark Sugars for my chocolate and the Beigel shop – Classic!
I have not heard of these tours, but living so close to London we have said we want to start exploring it more. I will definitely be trying these tours out x
I’d love to do the Underground walking tour, I’m always fascinated to see what has become of disused stations and platforms
The classic rock tour sounds fantastic, I bet there are so many different venues that bands have played at over the years
Ooh now thw rock tour is one on my list of things I definitely want to do, the food tour of Shoreditch I have done and loved x
I have wanted to do the rock tour for ages it has always looked really good, but also know I would love the history that surrounds the Underground tour.
They sound perfect for when we are allowed out and about again. Iāve not been to to London for ages
I’d love the foodie tour, I can’t wait for everything to be open again and it to be safer for us to explore more. Mich x
There’s an amazing app fro Shoreditch/Brick Lane area for street art, I’d recommend giving that a go next time you’re in town! And for me I’d definitely be all over that foodie tour!
Ohh sounds good as I’ve done a street art tour there but I’d love to see more x
I’ve lived in London all my live (up until 2 years ago) and have never been on a London tour! I guess living their meant I just never got round to it. But as soon as we can go back I definitely will! I bloomin’ love Shoreditch and miss it so much.
I am the same living so close to London, you almost forget about exploring your local area x
