At the moment every weekend feels like a stay at home weekend. Normality has gone out of the window. But if you’re working it’s so important to treat the weekends separately. They’re time to unwind, relax and do everything you want to do. That’s why I wanted to create this post all about the things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend.

I do find a lot of the time when I’m at home I end up planning trips or activities for future dates so I have something to look forward to. Sometimes it might be booking flights for a weekend away or purchasing Orlando park tickets for a trip away. Or it might be as simple as booking a meal out or tickets to a show. Before lockdown and social isolation was a thing and the world was back to normal I’d crave a stay at home weekend. While I love having plans and being busy, there’s nothing like a relaxing weekend at home. You don’t need to go out and see anyone. And you can do exactly what you want to do.

Things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend: cosy PJ’s

If you’re going to be staying in all weekend then you need some cosy PJ’s. I do always think it’s nice to shower and change out of whatever you wore to sleep in. But changing from PJ’s into fresh PJ’s is a total winner. I’m more of a trouser and oversize t-shirt kinda girl which is why this duo from Pour Moi is just what I need.

I have the grey marl trousers* which are so incredibly soft it makes me want to wear pyjamas forever. They have an elasticated waistband which should be mandatory on loungewear. The elasticated cuffs are a godsend as I always find baggy trousers ride up my legs when I’m lounging in bed. And they have pockets which means when I do make the daily pilgrimage downstairs I can fill my pockets with my phone (or snacks!)

Then I paired it with this oversized tee*. This is long enough that in the summer you could wear it on its own which is great. But it also has a beautiful tie feature on the back so it lets air in and doesn’t keep me too warm. This duo has been my go-to in the things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend. It’s my outfit when I’m not going anywhere days which is pretty much every day now.

It isn’t just the PJ’s themselves you need. For the ultimate stay-at-home weekend, you need some slipper boots too. It hasn’t been until this year that I’ve truly appreciated the joy of slippers. Especially while I’ve been working from home. Anything that keeps you comfy and cosy is a must!

Palmers Natural Bronze Body Lotion

You need all the face masks and pampering gear

I’ve done a whole dedicated post about having the ultimate at-home pamper session so I won’t just repeat that post. But it’s so important to treat yourself and your skin through some face and body masks, a bath and all of those things we tell ourselves we don’t have time for. Like a full-body scrub. Or painting our nails. A stay-at-home weekend means you now have time, and I know how good I feel about a real good pamper.

A curated watchlist on Netflix/ Disney +/ Amazon Prime/ Now TV

It wouldn’t be a weekend in without some good TV to watch. But one of the things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend is a curated ready to watch playlist. Whatever you subscribe to be it Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime or Now TV have a to watch list ready to go. I know if I’m browsing for something to watch I could be there for hours trying to decide what to watch. And sometimes I can’t decide and move to YouTube. On each platform, I have a to watch list so if I’m ever at a loose end I know what to watch.

On Netflix, I have a few TV shows like Don’t F**k with cats, Sabrina and Tiger King. Then on Disney+, it’s all the old Disney movies I’ve never seen. Although currently, I’m on season 3 of Marvelous Mrs Maisel on Amazon Prime which I am loving.

A good candle

It would not be a relaxing stay at home weekend with a good candle. I’m one of those people who burn candles all year round and not just in the Autumn/ Winter months. Although I like switching things up to fresher/ lighter scents in the warmer weather. If ever there was a candle more apt for this situation it would be Escape by Scentered. The candle has been blended to transport you to some ‘me time’. For everyone that’s different, it might be relaxing with a good book or stretching in a yoga class. Although which of those I’d pick.

I love the aromatherapy candles from Scentered as they’re designed to refresh your mind with essential oils for a clean burn and a natural scent.

Things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend: Snacks and good brunch/ dinner options

To be honest this is probably one of the most important things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend: Food! And there needs to be choice. To begin with, you’ll want a really good set up for brunch. Seeing as it’s brunch you can have whatever you want whether that’s breakfast foods or the biggest sandwich you can make. But something properly epic. Some of my favourites would be a sausage and egg hash or bacon and maple syrup pancakes. But then you also need something similarly great to have in the evening. For stay-at-home weekends I love doing something like make your own pizzas or really hearty food like pasta bakes.

But lastly, you also need some good old snacks; sweet or savoury it doesn’t matter. As long as you have enough to keep you going and keep you smiling then you’re good.

What are your go-to things you need for the ultimate stay-at-home weekend?

I totally agree this is my completed stay at home guide as well, if we have to be at home it needs to be with comfort and treats x

  2. Jenni says:

We have recently subbed to Netflix and Amazon Prime and I love them both so much – what did I do before them!! A Discovery of Witches and The Witcher have been two of the highlights of them so far.

  3. Claire says:

Like you I craved some down time, the first few weeks of lockdown meant that I felt like that was all I had (despite working from home)

Now I try to keep as active and focused during the week and treat the weekends as proper downtime.

This list is full of my absolute must haves too. Think I need a chilled one after reading this.

Mrs Maisel was great! I always appreciate comfy pajamas, pandemic or not. I love soft, fleecy warm ones but prefer no elastic at the ankle.

What great ideas for staying at home! We have been having lovely weekend brunches, mainly to cheer my partner up as he is still having to go to work so it has been stressful for him. Our weekends are very important!

I loev an indulgent weekend at home, now if only I could get rid of the kids, it would be perfect and I could binge Marvelous Mrs Maisel all alone! lol Mich x

Comfy clothing is important to help us feel more relaxed. My girls have been indulging in pamper sessions. Glad I have plenty of supplies of face masks lol.

Yeah this is such a good time to use up all those masks that otherwise we don’t get time to use x

I need to set up some watchlists on Prime, Netflix and Disney+ as otherwise I just end up scrolling aimlessly, having forgotten what it was I originally wanted to watch! Totally agree about comfy PJs, masks and candles too!

I have lots of cozy pj’s and I love nothing more than lounging around in them. I love the idea of having face masks

I’ve lived in my pjs for weeks haha. Now if I want a stay at home weekend I actually put on clothes so it feels a little different hha

A comfortable pair of PJ’s and my Kindle have been getting me through the weekends during lockdown whilst the children are playing in the garden.

We have downloaded Disney+ and it is a brilliant investment, the kids are loving it. I cannot stay in my PJ’s, I have to get up and get dressed LOL

I watched Tiger King when it came out, wow what a show. It’s a crazy ride. I also watched Don’ F*k with Cats recently too. It was amazing how everyone worked together to find out where the killer was.

    • Rhian Westbury says:

I watched that show too and I was just shocked how the police didn’t listen to the guys who had worked it out until it was too late. And that someone’s mum can be that deluded haha x

Bruch is the most important thing for me on weekends in the current climate. It makes me separate the weekdays from the weekend.

Brunch is the most important thing full stop. A good excuse to get up a bit later and have a leisurely first meal x
